Taking centre stage in the Great Baths for Cati & Morgan’s After Party at Villa Adriana was one of three marble-effect wedding cakes placed between the ancient Roman marble columns. 🏛️ The tiers comprised three different flavours: dried fig and brown butter, mojito, and dark chocolate raspberry. Only figs could have been enjoyed by the ancient Romans: cakes - and where the tradition originated - were more simple wheat or barley cakes which the groom would break over the bride’s head to symbolise fertility.

The inspiration for the design of the Baths was Poussin’s Bacchanal paintings. The space was enhanced with a draped dessert table, hand-painted with floral motifs and weathered textures to evoke the timeworn beauty of a fresco. Toppled marble columns and sculpture fragments stood among the desserts and with cascades of grapes, figs and pomegranates intertwined with hydrangeas and roses.

As we designed and worked within these ancient walls, we could not help but imagine who enjoyed this magnificent country retreat two-thousand years ago and what events might have looked like under the Emperor Hadrian. What a privilege it was to be granted permission to work here and bring a 21st celebration to this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

💛🧡❤️🩷 This event got so much love when we posted a sneak peek of this incredible chandelier a few weeks ago. Hanging in the round of the iconic Roundhouse this made for a show stopping centrepiece within this colourful, loud and very fun Carnival party.

Day 10 - Stormzy’s This Is What I Mean Album Launch.

We were fortunate enough to capture the excitement of Stormzys album launch this November. Stormzy is an amazing presence and he shared stories about the album to a live audience, as well as an intimate live performance.

@jem.live put together an incredible space for the launch of Stormzy’s third album. A double story fit out with fake fire, a 5 projector screen listening room and more. Big praise deserved for their hugh effort!
