I am so proud of my students! They were freshman when CoVid shut down the world and I call them the resilient ones. They were faced with an unprecedented difficult challenge yet they conquered it! I think it is important to be an educator who personalizes curriculums to reflect and ignite the power that resides in those learning. This year’s AA Voice curriculum of study was entitled ‘The Rise of the Black Matriarch’. Students learned the truth & foundational significance of the role of Black women historically, culturally and socially while also analyzing their personal roles in helping to bring balance back to the natural, healthy and prosperous practices that our families, communities and nations all need to thrive and create human wellness. The mission was to help them realize that they all, no matter their cultural background, have the unique opportunity to continue a legacy of greatness that is supported by centuries of sacrifice and righteous acts dedicated to ‘them’ in anticipation of ‘them’. They are the resilient ones, here to usher in a change for the better. I pray for their safety, strength and perseverance but I know they will step up and shine on em’. That is what they were born to do. P.S. These are just a few pics of the many I captured of my students. Check out my IG stories and help me congratulate these beautiful people that I am grateful to know and love! 👏🏾🙌🏾💪🏾🙏🏾✨💙#GLHS #ClassOf2023 #TheResilientOnes #ProudEducator #AAVoice #BlackStudies #BlackLit #ILoveMyStudents♥️
