In April, during a panel at Rutgers University Newark, Anya Dillard opened up about how a $25,000 grant she received from Gucci Changemakers Creative Fellowship gave her the ability to compensate all the creatives who worked as executives on her most recent film “Atelier: The Story of Brownmill Company.” The film’s entire executive team was comprised entirely of Rutgers Newark students and recent graduates.

‼️ANNOUNCEMENT‼️ Jenevesque Media’s Philadelphia premiere of Atelier: The Story of Brownmill Company (@ateliermovie) — originally scheduled for August 27th — has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. All guests and invitees received official notification but we did want to take to socials with a formal announcement.

it’s still Black business month so I wanna throw it back to a night @newarkblackfilmfest celebrating @jenevesque (and the gorg @lailarosehoff) for the premiere of @ateliermovie

let me let you into my lore real quick💬 I’m a Jersey girl to the bone (NORTH, to be exact, Paterson if we wanna be particular 🫵🏽🙂‍↔️😂), still mad love for Brooklyn though! Shoutout to my momma’s side. I also used to be a movement teaching artist in Paterson & Newark Public Schools during undergrad, to the iconic Brownmill Halsey street block parties, and now a multi-hyenate style creator in the city… celebrating this one felt like rooting for family.

❤️‍🩹 UPDATE ❤️‍🩹 We located my friend’s father and confirmed that he has received his medication, but his family is still in need of your support as he is currently at risk of being deported within the next 2-3 weeks.

The Gonzalez family is currently in the process of securing legal counsel and is hoping to lobby against his deportation. As community members, we have drafted a statement of character on behalf of his chosen family, are attempting to provide his family with guidance on next steps, and are remaining hopeful.

Thank you to everyone who shared, amplified, and reached out to help. We could not have done this without you, and still have quite a long way to go. Your support means more than you know and we sincerely hope you will keep Carlos and his family in your prayers.
