“Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others.”

Tim, the CEO and Founder of @chwinery gave this parting speech to a couple hundred people at the company’s annual GM/EKM Conference. One man took Tim’s words to heart and used them to ignite a flame that I believe exists in all of us.

Darren, is the GM of Cooper’s Hawk in Coconut Creek, Fla. He credits Tim and that speech for igniting the flame that resulted in a 35lb weight loss. “I know Tim really meant what he said that night or he wouldn’t have said it, so I decided to put myself first.”

“Influence flows from leadership, yet those you influence are the true outcome of your character and choices.”

Reminiscing about my trip with the @chwinery wine club to Tuscany last month. Seeing the world through the lens of what you drink in a place is the greatest way to immerse in the culture. You meet farmers and families, see the land, eat the amazing food that has been raised side by side with that wine for centuries, and gain a much richer appreciation for the history and the culture. I love being able to share this experience with others.
I’ll be leading a group to Champagne and Burgundy this fall and I can’t wait to dive in deep again!
