go visit your friends. meet their people. take their coffee shop recommendations and check them all off in one go. get the local chisme. order in like you used to and talk over whatever is on the tv. do a solo bike explore and think about how lovely it is to be right where you are in that moment.

weird to say, but I haven’t done a trip that didn’t involve a race since 2022. which yes, makes me a weird and absent friend. this is also the first time I’ve taken a real offseason. usually I switch to trail running after cycling season is over. so while I did bring my gravel bike on my travels, more time was spent walking around with my friends.

feeling fall weather again after a few years was kinda magical. my love of train travel and public transportation lives on. I also got to see my cousin and one of my very lovely coworkers. feeling real lucky for this adventure and especially that my friends love me enough to say yes to me (and my bike) being a houseguest for a few days.

a lot of what we learn about love is taught to us by people that never really loved us. for whatever reason/s they didn't get to know enough about us to love us for who we really are. HOWEVER, I got real lucky and have a solid crew that I consider family. forever and ever thankful for all the dinners, long walks, bike rides, road trips, smashing into photo booths, and the endless stories we post. I really love you all and I’m thankful we choose each other
