(Multiple captions) Hello everyone! I want to make a post dedicated to mental health, my family, friends, and hoping to have this be motivating for anyone that’s struggling with mental health.
I’ve struggled a lot throughout the past 2 years with depression, anxiety, alcoholism, and OCD. It got to point recently where it got unbearable to do anything, such as showering, taking care of the house, hanging with friends/family; responding back to them. Couldn’t do the things that I love. These are things that would tear me down knowing that my mental health was taking over, and kicking my ass. My solution was to drink and drink. Made me constantly tired, couldn’t move around, made me more stubborn, sleeping too much, and overall get weak physically. A couple of weeks ago I went far beyond my limit with the drinking. I was drinking alone, thinking that I’m too much for reaching out, I’m a burden, that I’m awkward, that I’m too insecure, that I’m overall too much for just trying to ask for help, or reach out to even just hangout with anyone.
These thoughts tumbled me over and over again.
I was in a very dark spot, and decided that suicide was the answer. I started to self inflict myself, and got progressively worse. I thought this was finally it, I thought that was the last day I was gonna be here. I had no impulse control what so ever with the amount of alcohol I had consumed. I eventually passed out and didn’t continue with my attempt.
I went to the hospital, then got transferred to an institution. Having to say goodbye to my family, and not being able to text, or call anyone was really hard. I was a mess on my first day at the institution. Regretted for even trying to attempt. Never felt more guilty for my family/friends. Felt like I disappointed everybody. I wanted to get out of that place so fast. 1/3

On my second day, it got a lil better. I got to talk to my roommate, hearing about their anxiety, alcoholism, and struggles. It gave me a bit of hope to hear someone open up, being blunt, and being there for each other. I expanded more and try to socialize with other people there. It took some time, but I met really sweet people. To hear their story’s as well ma

I have never been so overwhelmingly surrounded by as much good energy as I was in the home that is the @oaiquartz community. Lynslie was the best housing co-counselor and roommate ever; the other counselors, staff, and dance instructors were the most passionate, inspiring coworkers ever; and my dance campers and gender-inclusive housing campers were the sweetest and super talented artists!! I wish I could properly put into words how much I feel about this 3 week experience. Being a counselor here feels like what I was made to do. I miss these people and this place so much :,)⛰️
