Sarah + Aaron

While the day started off cold and rainy and we were ready to be inside for the whole day, the clouds parted just in time to let this amazing couple have their ceremony outdoors under the sun. While still pretty chilling, S+A’s guests all were in good spirits for the day and got to celebrate with the couple.

This was one of our first weddings of the season and it was truly the most special day!! Congrats to Sarah + Aaron!

In the lead up to our engagement photoshoot, I had been plotting a little surprise for Steph, with the help of our amazing photographer @jenniecrate and wonderful friends, @kit_helme and @thethriftypinup. Our relationship has been shaped by movement - travelling across the globe by car, train and plane every few months, but more creatively, with spontaneous dance at any given opportunity. I knew that this special moment needed to reflect this facet of our connection.

During the shoot, with prompts to dance like we were at the gay bar, to try some polka dance and finally to contemplate what the first dance at our wedding would be like, we drew together and I started to tell Steph everything that she means to me from a little corgi card I'd been carefully hiding for the last few weeks. Feeling bad that she had not also drafted up something sweet to say, Steph only realised what I was doing when I went down on one knee and produced her ring from the hand-sewn bag dutifully made by @kit_helme from my pocket (the dress has pockets!!). In very queer fashion, then, I proposed back to Steph and she said YES! Phew!

My plan had been to play Noah Reid's cover of You're Simply the Best during the wedding dance prompt but the weather had scuppered that plan a bit, so instead we played it in the car on the way back to our accommodation, rain lashing by this point, and started to plan our next steps on this journey together. Steph really is the best (better than all the rest) and we are so grateful for all the love and support we have had not only over the last few days, but since we first got together three and a half years ago. #engayged again!

Last month while we were in Colorado, we took some engagement photos at @gardenofthegodspark, where we had one of our first adventures together in 2023. Fittingly, Sarah managed to bring the British weather with her, but thankfully @jenniecrate was well prepared and captured the day beautifully!
