The 78th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, for the very first time in its history, included Associate Casting Directors in their respective casting categories. A year ago, Alexa Pereira, Steven Tylor O’Connor, and myself set out to petition the TV Academy to include Associates in the ceremony this year. Our then TV Academy Casting Governors, Marc Hirschfeld and Megan Sleeper, were instrumental in championing the inclusion of Associates. Then, with additional support from the overwhelming number of so many Casting Directors we know and love, we received official word this past January that we had done it.

I know I can speak for Alexa and Steven when I say it’s one of the proudest moments of our careers so far. Trophies are great, but the visibility of what we do and its vitality to the creative process is really what it’s all about.

Bravo to history-makers, Seth Caskey, Associate Casting Director of The Pitt and Jennifer Brooks, Associate Casting Director of Love Story. Your work speaks for itself and we’re so damn honored that you were the first to pave the way ❤️

About last night…..
A special thank you to the PRETTY PRETTY PONY veteran improvers who made a 13 year old boy working through his mommy issues, eating an avocado and trying out for cheerleader all on a “public transit” private jet hysterical!! 🤣 I had a BLAST!!

It’s difficult to put into words what Glen Hansard means to me. His songwriting touches my soul – music is the best kind of magic, and to see him live was otherworldly. Melodies just flowed through him and his old battered Takamine guitar; he’s the best kind of warm blanket and I can’t believe he’s gone.

I’ve been fortunate through the years to see him over a dozen times at venues as small as McCabe’s Guitar Shop and the old school Largo on Fairfax to the Greek, Wiltern and Hollywood Bowl. Whether solo, with Marketa, The Frames or jamming with Eddie Vedder and his Earthling band, it was always a spiritual feast and the closest thing to church for me. A few days before my wedding in 2007, I went to see The Frames at the Fonda here in LA. My co-workers at the time ran into him outside before the gig and told him I was a big fan and was heading out to get hitched, and Glen wrote a note for us, which is framed in our home. It reads: “Cole – I wish you a wonderful marriage full of the good stuff. Big love – Glen.” That’s what Glen was – full of the good stuff.

Music is immortal – I just wish he was too.
