These are two authors near and dear to my heart and I think they deserve all the love. They are both immediately auto-buy for me, and I haven't been disappointed yet! @jennilwalsh and @juliannemaclean are brilliant historical fiction and literary fiction authors. Go check out their work if you haven't yet. If you are also a fan, which is your favorite from their backlists?

It’s release day for the paperback of THE BUG BANDITS by Tall Poppy @jennilwalsh! 🐞📚

This book is a special one for young readers. Jenni wrote it for her own reluctant-reader son, and it’s the perfect blend of adventure, mystery, and mischief!

Inspired by the pranks and hijinks of Home Alone and a real-life heist at a Philadelphia bug museum, The Bug Bandits follows a science-loving girl and her friends who overhear a plot to rob her dad’s insectarium. Now, it’s up to them to stop the thieves from stealing the museum’s rarest insects!

A thrilling mystery packed with clever schemes, laugh-out-loud moments, and plenty of creepy-crawly fun, it’s perfect for readers in grade 3 through 7 (and honestly, readers of all ages!).

Happy paperback release day, Jenni! 🪲🎉

It's hard to write a good book on a terrible time, but this author knocked it out of the park!

This book is about Jody, a young girl who is part of a military family who is used to moving around. She's fine with her life as long as she has Happy, her retired military dog. But when her family moves to Hawaii things seem to be changing. With the war creeping closer to America, her mother slowing losing herself to worry and depression and her dog getting older; Jody decides it's time for something new. Operation Happy is a GO!

I loved this book! Though it has some real rough parts, this story is clean, interesting and sweet. Obviously, it's about Pearl Harbor, people get hurt, injured, shot, die and such. Mention of wounded, loss and some mention of blood. But honestly, this book is more of a focus on the before and after of the attack. It goes through the struggles of losing apart of yourself, but still being determined to smile, laugh and enjoy life.

Overall, this book is a inspiring read about joy through the hard times. I think kids 9 and up need to read this book! -The Young Llama Reader.

✨Book Review✨

Death Was Not on the Guest List by Jenni L. Walsh
@jennilwalsh

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was such an incredibly good read!! I absolutely loved it!!
Following along with Ginevra, Edith, Peg, and Courtney as they work diligently to identify the murderer of their “friend” Sarah proved to be an intriguing mystery that was a true page turner.

Walsh’s ability to create suspense, drama, and all the flair of the Roaring 20s is impeccable. As a fan of The Great Gatsby, I especially enjoyed the connections made between the characters in Fitzgerald’s novel and Walsh’s own work.

If you love an intriguing murder mystery then Death Was Not on the Guest List is a must read!

Thank you so much to Thomas & Mercer and @netgalley for the opportunity to read Death Was Not on the Guest List.
