A proud day for ANB.

Today, we announce the appointment of Mark Welke as Chair of the ANB Board.

Some appointments get filled. This one has been 10 years in the making.

Mark and I have known each other for more than a decade. In that time, I have watched him build, integrate and turn around businesses across two continents, and I have watched him do it with a respect for people that this sport recognises immediately. We have said to each other more than once that when the time is right, we will unite to power our shared vision for excellence.

The timing is right… Right now.

Mark brings 25 years of commercial leadership across the UK and Australia. He has taken businesses through integrations, rebrands, global market expansion and acquisitions, has served on five boards, launched four brands and led teams in the thousands within his national remit.

But the reason he is the right Chair for ANB is not the record. It is where he earned it.

11 years with @fitnessfirst_uk_official across the UK and Australia. CEO across the @ausinstfitness, @cleanhealthfitnessinstitute and @vast_nutritionacademy brands on 2 separate occasions over a decade. Mark has spent his working life inside our industry, around our people, in the rooms our athletes train in. He is not here to learn this world. He has given his career to it, and is respected by athletes, brands and community alike.

What we have built here, I am fiercely proud of. A competitor experience athletes travel for. Sponsors and partners who back us because they believe in us. An audience that fills our rooms for the purest reason there is, love of this sport. Mark is here to drive this further, operationally and strategically.

To every athlete who steps onto our stage, this next chapter is for you. We are taking the competitor experience where it has never been. Bigger stages, more shows, greater reach for those who earn it, and the commercial power to make it real.

43 years ago, it was decided this sport deserved a proper home in Australia. Athletes, coaches, judges and volunteers have kept that promise ever since.

Today, we continue that promise.

Welcome to the board, Mark.
