Friday Oct 30th, 7pm doors, show 7:30pm at Temescal Art Center in Oakland, CA. Honored to play this show with new and old friends. I will doing a first time collaboration with the multi faceted IDHAZ, one of my favorite artists I meet a few years ago. Videos 1 & 2 are from my recent show as Transient with drummer Edwin Ayala and film maker Anna Geyer at @sfcinematheque ‘s Micro Spells. The later images are of IDHAZ. The amazing line up features: Marcia Bassett (NYC) and StCelfer (NYC) Electronic sonic events in real time, smudging distinctions between analog, digital, body, and instrument. Danishta Rivero (CA) is an improviser, performer, and sound artist based in Oakland, California. She explores the artifacts resulting from heavy processing of the voice and their relationship to its acoustic resonance. Jenny Gräf (DK/US) performs a set combining self-built electroacoustic instruments, analogue synthesizer, and vocals. Moving from the quiet shimmer of her hand-built speakers to the raw, resonant textures of her metal bow instrument and synth, the set moves through shifting terrain between noise, voice, and electroacoustic sound. This is Gräf’s first West Coast performance in seven years. Transient & IDHAZ (SF, CA) Transient was founded by David R. Molina in 2000, as a solo and collaborative project exploring electro-acoustic, ambient, noise, industrial, free improvisation, sound art, shoegaze, and experimental music. He is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, sound designer, music producer, and instrument inventor, who has worked on social justice centered performing arts, film, and multimedia productions for 30 years. IDHAZ is a producer/vocalist transporting through obscured portals to sounds of undiscovered emotion, past, future, and fractured light. He began performing poetry in 2010, and since then has become a magnetic, multi-disciplinary performance artist and audio engineer in the Bay Area. Combining elements of harp, gameboy, beat machines, samples, and genre fluid vocals, IDHAZ creates visceral soundscapes to immerse into. #experimentalmusic #soundart #liveelectronicmusic #improvisedmusic

Please join us in welcoming Jenny Gräf Sheppard for an afternoon talk with the AT/SP Visiting Artist Program! Jenny Gräf Sheppard is an artist and musician based in Copenhagen. She activates peripheral places and states through sound composition, improvisation and participatory works. Her recent works deal with the multi-sensory aspects of listening and how relations and ecologies can be sensed and enacted. Her recent development of tactile speakers led to development of The Pidgin Choir (2022), and Speaker Release (2024) a spatialized sound installation with a choir of 15 speaker-instruments made of porcelain, copper and magnets. Speaker-instruments filter, translate and voice sound sources variously due to their design and performed manipulations, reflects an interest in deconstructing the enclosed, control over sound that the conventional speaker offers, replacing it instead with unpredictability, interference, noise and the possibility for performers and audience to manipulate the transduction of sound in live performances.

SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT ✨ My series 2 Blocks Down has a new life and place in East Flatbush at Gil’s home. I’m thrilled to have a space and welcome the beginning of a new series in collaboration with Gil Arno. OCT 16th at 7pm / Music at 8pm Jenny Graf with Nitin Mukul (visuals), Karol Konstancia, and Gabby Fluke-Mogul Karol Konstancia (PL/US) @karolkonstancia is an electroacoustic musician who uses feedback, voice, improvisation and concrete compositional practices to create narratively dense retellings of Polish Highland folk music. For this show, Jenny Gräf (DK/US) @jennygraf_ performs a set combining self-built electroacoustic instruments, analogue synthesizer, and vocals. Moving from the quiet shimmer of her hand-built speakers to the raw, resonant textures of her metal bow instrument and synth, the set moves through shifting terrain between noise, voice, and electroacoustic sound. This is Gräf’s first US performance in seven years. She will perform with live visuals by Nitin Mukul @nitin_mukul_studio an American visual artist of Indian descent who maps spaces where painting and video intersect as a durational experience. In 2020 Mukul co-founded Epicenter NYC, a community journalism multiplatform initiative that engages, connects and informs and empowers through the power of culture and community. Gabby Fluke-Mogul @flukemogul is a Brooklyn-based violinist, improviser, composer, educator, organizer, and doula. Weaving within experimental threads of improvised musics, their playing has been described as “embodied, visceral and virtuosic” and “the most striking sound in improvised music in years.” Doors 7pm Music 8pm This is a home not a venue.
