It is dark in the blown-up U-boat bunker. Only a faint glimmer of daylight falls under the collapsed roof of the pen. A soft gurgle pierces the silence as the water level sinks. While nothing points to them at high tide, the rusting hulls of three forgotten u-boats from the Second World War slowly become visible at low tide...

I wander through the abandoned state mental hospital. The plaster is peeling off the walls and the buildings are in a state of decay. A door with the Cyrillic inscription "No access for strangers" lures me in...

The abandoned NATO radar station

The abandoned long range (troposcatter) radar base is located on a mountain peak over 2000 meters high in the Italian Alps. The facility operated from 1969 to 1995 as part of a radio communications network that linked NATO from north to south until satellite communications technology made it obsolete.

Today a photographer sent us pictures from 2018, where the Grand Tower was still under construction 🚧🏗️ He also sent us a youtube link to a story he told in the meantime, so if you want to watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5BN9oFiJig

The abandoned radar station

A relic of the Cold War, the station monitored air traffic over Europe since the 1950s. Today, the huge apparatus no longer rotates and has been abandoned. In almost complete darkness, only a little sunlight shimmers through the dome and makes the radar glimmer in reddish light.
