From script to screen I’ve always enjoyed the process of translating what was just words on a page to something tangible. Scripts are manifestations… repeating the words in your head and aloud over and over and over again turns them into images and then into motivation/direction. The final version of the script isn’t written until you finish the final edit. Things are forever changing and as a writer-director I have to know that… I can’t get stuck on the images I saw in my head… I can’t get stuck on images that were captured on set. The script will change so many times before we get to set… the cast and crew will bring their own interpretations. What you guys see on screen is the final version of the script.

We rehearsed for our film in a library… It was important that we went out there with a plan on how this scene would unfold—we wouldn’t have had time to find what we needed out there in the woods. This is the work that many people don’t get to see. Nuance is created in these moments… icebergs are avoided in these moments. Rehearsal gave me the opportunity as a director to establish a tone with my actors and get them in the headspace they’d have to be in for the 12 hrs we were out there! One of my favorite parts of directing is working with actors. I’m beyond grateful for my cast on this picture because they REALLY were all hands in!
