Flanagan’s eight-episode TV adaptation of King’s debut novel is a modern take in which Carrie’s bullying comes largely through social media, and the horrors include school shooter drills. “Carrie” is closer in spirit to Flanagan’s inventive TV updates of literary horror classics like “The Haunting of Hill House” and “The Fall of the House of Usher.” “I have right of disapproval over everything,” King said. “And basically I don’t use it, because I trust Mike completely. PAST DUE ARCs: PART 3 In an effort to hold myself accountable I will be posting my past due ARCs over the next couple of days. My inability to read these books in a timely manner is in no way a reflection of the authors or their work. Simply put, I dropped the ball. Between accepting ARCs from Indie authors, being a permanent ARC team member (for nearly a dozen), and requesting on Netgalley I spread myself way too thin. My deepest apologies to the authors who have entrusted me with their hard work in exchange for a review. Moving forward I will be holding off on accepting new books till I can make a significant dent in my backlog. *To help make up for my late reviews I have purchased physical and or electronic copies!

The A&L section's cover story is a great piece by the esteemed Jeremy Egner on Sterlin Harjo and his new FX series "The Lowdown" - if you haven't seen it yet you need to check it out, esp. if you're a fan of folks like Portis, Leonard and Crumley. My pal, the great Duffy Boudreau, is a writer and producer on the show (and he also also pops up in a cameo in the pilot). Fun fact: "The Lowdown" co-stars Jeanne Tripplehorn, whose father Tommy was a member '60s hitmakers Gary Lewis and the Playboys, a group Carol Kaye recorded with!

Starting this one today ~ BELIEVE by @jeremyegner ~ and reminiscing about a fun trip we had this summer. My husband and I are big fans of the show TED LASSO and made our way over to Richmond with our kids in tow, while in London this summer. We enjoyed visiting the square, grabbing lunch at the local pub used for exterior scenes in the show, and shopping at the fun Ted Lasso store, which is just steps away from where the exterior shots of Ted’s flat are filmed. 💙 „Believe” – czyli jak Ted Lasso ponownie skopał mi serce (i duszę) Są tłumaczenia, które robi się z deadline’em nad głową i herbatą z kocim kłaczkiem w kubku. A są też takie, które tłumaczy się z sercem na wierzchu, łzami w oczach i bluzą AFC Richmond na sobie. Zgadnijcie, które to było? Dziś ma swoją premierę polska wersja książki „Ted Lasso. Nieopowiedziana historia serialu, który podbił nasze serca” i mam zaszczyt być jej tłumaczem. Przeżyłem ją całą, od pilota aż do finału.. Znowu się śmiałem, znowu ryczałem, znowu się wzruszałem jak dzieciak, który właśnie usłyszał „You’ll Never Walk Alone” gdzie w telewizji. Przybyłem. Przetłumaczyłem. Uwierzyłem. A teraz w końcu mogę powiedzieć to głośno: 📣 Tłumaczenie książki "Believe. Ted Lasso. Nieopowiedziana historia serialu, który podbił nasze serca" to moje dzieło. I jedna z najpiękniejszych zawodowych przygód ostatnich lat. Wielki szacun dla @wydawnictwootwarte za zaufanie i za to, że pozwolili mi wejść jeszcze raz do świata Teda, Roya, Keeley i Bearda. Tylko tym razem nie z kanapy, a z kartki i klawiatury. 📆 Premiera: 18 czerwca 2025. Tak się składa, że to też czwarta rocznica mojego ślubu. Przypadek? Ted by powiedział, że nie. I wiecie co? Ja mu wierzę. 📖 Ta książka to nie tylko gratka dla fanów serialu. To przypomnienie, że dobroć, empatia i odwaga bycia sobą nadal mają sens i mogą wygrać mecz. 🐾 PS Oreo nie rozumie, czemu Ted miał psa, a nie kota.
