Our time in Sardinia reminded us that longevity isn’t built in a wellness clinic. It’s woven into everyday life.

Yes, the meals were unforgettable. But the conversations around the table, the stories shared, and the people we met along the way made the experience even more meaningful.

A few days immersed in a way of life that has inspired generations to live longer, healthier, and more connected lives.

Five Spiritual Lessons I Learned from Archery

1. Every Arrow is a New Beginning
2. Aim Small, Miss Small

5. The Greek word for sin is “hamartia,” and it means “to miss the mark”

Every arrow is a new beginning. We let go of the last arrow. We don’t worry about the next arrow. We are here for this arrow. This arrow is the only arrow.

Aim small, miss small. We practice directing our attention to a very specific spot on the target. The more focused we become, the more likely our arrow is to hit our mark. This is true both on and off the range. Our focus determines our reality.

Releasing the fruits of action. We can control some things on the range. We can strive to cultivate skillfulness, to be mindful, to breathe with intention, and to perfect our form. But as soon as we let go of the string, the arrow is out of our hands. We have the right to action, but not the outcome of our actions. This is a core teaching from the Bhagavad Gita.

One of the definitions of yoga is “the affixing of an arrow to the bowstring.” The arrow and the bow become one. With practice, we become one with the bow and the arrow. With more practice, we become one with the target as well. In time, you disappear. Mindful archery is a powerful doorway into a state of flow.

In Greek, the word for “sin” is hamartia; it means “to miss the mark.” If our mark is God, to sin means to fall short. We are bound to fall short because we are imperfect creatures. In archery, we are bound to miss our mark as well. In spiritual archery, one can make a practice of returning time and again to the miracle of this moment. We can learn to let go of self-judgment and experience wonder, awe, and the joy of flight. And we can enjoy the practice of returning again and again to the pursuit of the divine in each perfect, imperfect moment.

I’ve arrived home from our epic culinary pilgrimage to Greece with a full heart (and belly) and beyond grateful for all the ways the Lord orchestrated this entire trip!

A huge thank you to @jeremyrocksmith and @odyssey.ecoglamping for inviting me into this collaboration that far exceeded my expectations.

To finally get the opportunity to soak up the culture, the people, the language, the food, the traditions, and the land where my people come from during holy week nonetheless was a blessing that came straight from the Lord!

We went to church
We visited ancient biblical holy sites
We prayed and shared our testimonies
We cooked and ate and ate and ate and ate
We met the most beautiful and generous humans
We soaked in a hot springs at the edge of the ocean
And left a piece of our hearts there

I’m already looking forward to going back!
