AN OPEN LETTER TO SKYWAY MANAGEMENT

(Full version of open letter on FB)

I’m writing as the owner of HitchPro Philippines, manufacturing tow hitches, bike racks, motorcycle carriers and cargo products since 2010 and as an adventure/sport-bike rider, cyclist, overlander, motorist, taxpayer and Skyway user.

I fully support safety regulations. But one person’s mistake should not become everyone’s restriction.

Our products are properly engineered and are established accessories used worldwide.

I recently travelled to London and Ireland, where I personally biked through the cities and drove on their roads. I saw bicycle racks being used on ordinary vehicles and major roads.

I’ve included a short reel showing my firsthand experience.

To Skyway: if there are safety concerns, give compliant motorists a way to comply. Inspect us if necessary, we are willing.

Turning cyclists away can also force us through EDSA and Balintawak, with heavier traffic, congestion and greater risk to our vehicles and expensive bikes.

Does that necessarily make us safer?

To LTO, I respectfully ask you to review the 1-meter limitation for modern bicycle carriers. Swedish, American and Japanese brands offer racks designed for multiple bikes, including four-bike systems.

For my family, that means:

4 people. 4 bikes. 1 vehicle.

Less fuel, fewer vehicles and more family time outdoors.

The same principle should apply to properly installed motorcycle carriers. Not everyone can afford, store or tow a trailer.

We are willing to work with Skyway and LTO toward practical rules.

We are not asking for special treatment. We are asking for fair, practical and safety-focused regulation.

One person’s mistake should not become everyone’s restriction.

@jbmultisports’ Palawan200 was nothing short of that. i’ve ridden in other beautiful countries, but nothing hits like home... the familiar warmth, roads, friendly faces, sari-sari stores, and cotton candy skies only the Philippines can give you.
