And, back home in LA, I got to throw the family-style al fresco book launch dinner party of my dreams at @gjustabakery ✨ 🍕pizza, a DIY ice cream bar, and a visit from Malone! 🐶 Thank you to team Gjusta for opening your gorgeous courtyard to us, to our sponsors @thebotanistgin_us and @lasjaraswines, to @ourplace for the gift bag goodies, to @looklookstudio for designing these 🦄 menus, to @katebe_ for the photos—and to my LA friends and fam who showed up to celebrate the book and nosh on some of my favorite foods!

I wanted to keep the first night of Hanukkah simple and just make a metric ton of latkes for the family. @aldiusa is perfect for holiday shopping because they have everything you need for entertaining and it's super affordable! Plus, they have some really fun and delicious products and they came right to my door! #ad I made a few extra latkes so Andy and I could have a latke hash the next day, because if you're gonna spend the time to fry... you might as well stretch it as far as it'll go. #ALDILove

Classic Hanukkah Latkes
Prep: 10 min
Cook: 30 min
Serv: 4 (12 latkes)

Ing:

2.5 pounds russet 🥔🥔, peeled
1 yellow onion, halved and peeled
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
2 Simply Nature Grade A Organic Cage Free Brown 🥚🥚
1/4 cup Baker’s Corner All-Purpose Flour
2 cups canola oil
1 1/2 cups Simply Nature Unsweetened 🍎 Sauce
1 teaspoon Stonemill Ground Cinnamon
1 1/2 cups sour cream
2 green onions, thinly sliced

Directions:

Shred the potatoes and onions using the large grating holes in a food processor. Put the potatoes and onions into a large strainer over a large mixing bowl and add the salt. Rest for 10 min. Ring out as much liquid as humanly possible, discard liquid. Put the potatoes and onions in a dish towel and ring again to get them as dry and malleable as you can. Place back in the mixing bowl and add the eggs and flour. Mix thoroughly and add more flour as needed to bind together.

Heat a large pan over medium-high heat. Cover the bottom of the pan in 1/2 of oil. You should be able to form 12 latke patties. Fry in batches so as to not crowd the pan. Make sure both sides are cooked until golden brown, smooshing them a bit with the spatula to help them flatten out as they cook, about 4 min. Reduce heat/add more oil as needed.

Serve with apple sauce that's been dusted with a little bit of cinnamon and sour cream with sliced green onion on top!

*To make the latke hash, chop up and fry the extra latkes the next morning with lots of green onions. Serve with a fried egg, cream cheese, and Specially Selected Cold Smoked Salmon. Finish with fresh dill, lots of fresh cracked pepper, flaky sea salt, and red pepper flakes (if you want a lil spice).*

Greetings from my absolute favorite place, @rancholapuerta! I come here once or twice a year to teach cooking classes and also to figure out how much papaya one human can physically eat. It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it. Here are a few snaps of the grounds, more in stories if you want a tour!
