LPR-P085 by @aaalex.levin For Alex Levin, techno is at its best when it is both physical and cerebral. His sets bring together shuffled rhythms, heavy textures, tension, intensity and introspection, drawing from often different shades of techno and electronic music, as well as field recordings and the sounds of the world around him. Years of listening and playing have led him to explore the relationship between sound, energy, tension and emotion, and how these elements come together through musical narration. The less obvious relationships between sounds are often where the story begins, balancing the continuity of a vibe with the tension and contrast that can push it towards the unexpected, or even create a new kind of continuity. His roots are in queer collectives, where he helped shape a corner of the underground through music, forward-thinking programming and hosting important underground artists. His sets have taken him to Berghain’s Klubnacht and SNAX on multiple occasions.
