26’ U21 Mixed Doubles Silver Medalists!🥳🥈 Although the finals didn’t turn around the way we hoped, we are still extremely proud of the way we played and we can confidently say the better TEAM won. There aren’t enough good things to say about Ella and Benji. Their commitment and communication on and off the ice stood out like no other team at this event, and we are happy to call them Team USA!🇺🇸💪 We will proudly take our silver medal, and be reminded of how many obstacles we overcame this week, with Jersey competing on a broken toe, two of our tiebreaker lsds getting dropped due to a miscommunication with the officials, our draw schedule getting changed days before the event leaving us a 5am wake up and 12am sleep, and Connor getting sick hours before the semifinal game, we are SO PROUD! We also genuinely could not express our gratitude for the Cape Cod Curling Club hospitality. This is the first time we’ve gone to a national championship and left with a new family. Also the first time we’ve walked into a curling club and saw big head signs with our faces on them made from people we haven’t even met. It was awesome. Congrats to Team Johnson/Hebert for clinching the bronze, and every other team that played their hearts out! The future in USA Mixed Doubles Curling is bright!🥳 (Also should probably say good luck to Connor at U20 Nationals in 2 weeks.😉)

Tied in the last end, without hammer.

Team Hollands/Grabow needed to steal for the win.

Sitting frozen,

on the pin,

behind two guards,

was not enough to stop Benji’s double runback triple quadruple peel or whatever it was.

One guard gone.

One guard moved over, exposing the button.

Two more rocks gone.

Center of the house was WIDE open.

After lots of talking,

Team Hollands/Grabow was able to sit two inches from the button, hidden mostly behind another rock in the house for their last shot.

The scene was set.

Two rocks in the house that were scoring for Team Hollands/Grabow.

Team Wendling/Paral had a decision to make

and everyone witnessed another phenomenal shot

and sweep

by Benji Paral and Ella Wendling

to come over the top,

tap the scoring rock back,

and sit on the button for the win.

Pretty stinking awesome to see.

Tip of cap the National Champs, Benji and Ella!

Silver, at the highest level for junior curlers in the United States is still pretty fricken sweet.

Will share more when rested.

Good curling and congrats to all the teams that qualified for the national championships.

You all deserved to be there and both pools beat each other up pretty hard during pool play.

The U.S. is in good hands for the foreseeable future regarding mixed doubles curling.

Holla!

Team Holla’s last U-18 Nationals is in the books!🥲Ending with a 4th place finish has been a hard pill to swallow, but we are extremely grateful for the memories and opportunities this event has given us over the past 4 years. We couldn’t thank @rockcreekcurling enough for the support and hospitality they have provided for so many junior teams across the country. This just goes to remind us that curling is more than a sport.
The memories and relationships you build along the way are worth more than you can put a price tag on. HUGE congrats to Team Kadlec for taking their first National Championship, and @teamjohnsoncurling for defending their title!🥇🏆
Thanks to our opponents for reminding us to have fun!
Good curling!🥌
