Saturday’s New Moon is in Libra, and she supports queen energy so beautifully. Libra is ruled by Venus, so she loves beauty and grace and luxury.

There’s an energetic difference between “treating myself as a queen” and “moving through my day as a queen.” I’m choosing the second: behave as if I already am one. Because I am. And you are. Sometimes we just forget.

Walk your dogs like a queen.
Take a shower like a queen.
Eat your lunch like a queen.

Lean into your worthiness this weekend. I offer these journaling prompts as a starting point.

Thank you, Libra, for reminding us.

Tonight, around the hearth in my backyard, the first Hearth Circle Council will begin. Eight women. 5 months exploring the over-functioning woman that lives within us.

As it became clear to me early this year that Hey Birdie Charleston would sunset, I began to envision a new container where depth is the shared intention, where we’d follow a thread through to its completion, and be witnessed in the most powerful way possible - by other conscious women.

I created the Hearth Circle Council to be a place where real evolution can occur within. Where we can lovingly witness the parts of ourselves that are running the show, and maybe choose differently.

Charleston, expect to feel the ripple of this work 🔥

I've invited a guest teacher each month to guide us as we spiral through where this part came from, what she needs, and how the stars and the plant spirit world can support her. I'll share glimpses of how the work is stirring in me here. And also of future Councils.

Thank you for witnessing this work. If it inspires you, please let me know so that I can be inspired right back by you.

And so it is ✨

This week, I held our first Hearth Witnessing Circle. I honored my desire to be seen by other women in what I'm creating, what's dying in me, and what I'm proud of. And three women joined me to do the same.

In a Witnessing Circle, we gather virtually using Google Meet, just 3 women plus me. Each woman has 10 minutes to share what's alive for her, completely uninterrupted. The circle listens, and then reflects back what we heard.

"I don't have anything to add. I just want you to know I heard every word."
"Thank you for letting us see that part of you."
"I am inspired by how raw you showed up here."

If you've never experienced the feeling of being really witnessed, I encourage you to sign up for an upcoming Witnessing Circle. There is something magical that happens.

I've set the dates for the rest of the year.

$18 per circle. Register through the link in my bio.

What actually happens during yoga nidra? 🧠

Caro and Amanda explain that your nervous system shifts out of fight-or-flight and into rest mode, and your brain drops into delta waves, the same ones you produce during deep sleep. Which means your body gets the restoration of sleep while you’re still awake.

Come try it! FREE meet and greet this Saturday, no experience needed. Link in bio. 🌙

Self-dismissal in relationships can wear some sneaky disguises. One that I've seen in my own life is the absorbing of other people's emotions.

"I'll feel this so you don't have to."
"I'll settle for what you can give in this relationship, even though I'm unsatisfied."
"I'll help everyone else understand you."

And in my direct experience, I see this mostly with women. I do not see the men in my life play this game.

This Saturday, I'm hosting 2 opportunities to be with women exploring the same question:
"The part of me that dismisses myself... what does she need?"

My in-person circle is full, but there is plenty of room in Sunday's Virtual Circle. I hope to see you there.

Don't expect a solution.
Do expect to be witnessed.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been sitting with a pattern that stretches over many generations - the act of dismissing myself in relationships.

This can look like saying yes when I want to say no, to avoid ruffling feathers.
Downplaying what I know so the other person doesn’t feel uncomfortable.
Settling for relationships that lack emotional depth, and pretending that doesn’t matter to me.

Basically, dimming myself and my desires for someone else.
Yuck.

In our August Circles, we’ll explore how far back this pattern goes generationally, and what happens when we stop dismissing ourselves and start including ourselves instead. In my experience, that shift, choosing myself first, has been transformational.

This month, the in-person Gathering Circle is already full. I’ve opened a virtual option for the following day.

Sign up and be witnessed in your remembering that your desires are wise and powerful.

Over the last couple of weeks, I noticed that I am constantly responding to others - texts, calls, requests. So I started asking myself, "Is this actually what I want to do right now?"

I noticed I was quick to dismiss my desire if it meant making someone else uncomfortable.

Many of us were taught that Good Girls shouldn't want too much. We should be happy as long as you're happy.

But what if my desires are wise and divine, straight from God? What if, by asking for what I want, I can create evolution in my relationships?

(spoiler alert, ⬆️ is what happened)

If this resonates with you, I invite you to be witnessed in Circle with other women looking at the same pattern.

These backyard gatherings have become one of the most nourishing parts of my year. Being in community with other women is my medicine. Hard stop.

At a Hearth Circle Gathering, we sit together around my fire pit. Eight women. Ninety minutes. I share what I'm personally moving through, and from there we talk. No fixing, no advice, no shared conclusion to arrive at. Just women showing up and being witnessed exactly as we are.

I've set the dates for the rest of the year. I'll share the monthly topic a couple of weeks out.

$22 per gathering. Register through the link in my bio.

(*rescheduling for 6/13 9-10:30a)

Charleston Women, where are you letting quick judgment get in the way of putting yourself out there? Of trying something new? Of letting someone be new?

I didn’t notice this Judge Judy part until very recently, when I saw one of my children mirroring it right back to me. Thanks 😒

Judge Judy keeps me from fully experiencing so many situations, because she decides quickly if what is for me and what isn’t. She sets unrealistic expectations (I have been called delusional!) and gets even more out of whack when those expectations aren’t met.

But she doesn’t know anything about possibility. She only has old data that she’s dragging into the current moment.

I’m ready to shine a light on Judge Judy and understand what she’s really up to. Does she know that I’m 48 years old? That I belong to myself? That I love being surprised?
I don’t think so - her main job is to keep me armored up. Keep me the same. Keep me still.

If any of this feels familiar, I invite you to the next Hearth Gathering Circle. Come be in circle with women who are really looking at their interior worlds. Be witnessed in your experience and feel how healing that can be.

Plot twist… and not the kind I was hoping for 🤪

My CrossFit training has come to a full stop.

Two weeks ago during 26.2, I jumped to the rings and felt it. You know that feeling when your body tells you instantly… yeah, this isn’t good. My hamstring tendon said-we have reached capacity 🤣

Did I stop? Of course not 🙃
I pushed through, finished the Open, and somehow made it through 4 rounds of the ugliest burpees, cleans, and thrusters you’ve ever seen.

Probably not my best call.

At first, I went straight into the spiral:
Why me?
I worked so hard.
This always happens.
Why am I even doing this?

All the stories. All the BS.

But after sitting in it for a couple days, I shifted.

This isn’t punishment.
It’s a plot twist… and plot twists are OPPORTUNITIES.

So here we are:
8 weeks of PT (seen above-yeah that’s as low as I can bend forward 😐)
Rebuilding from the ground up
Fixing movement patterns
A whole lot of humble pie

You’ll see me walking more than lifting for a while
And reminding myself daily: this is redirection, not rejection.

Truth is, when you push your limits, things happen.
But what matters is how you respond.

Sometimes you have to sit in it, feel it fully…
and then choose to see the opportunity.

Because life isn’t happening to you…
it’s happening for you.

Trusting myself through this one 💫
