Proof that you can be anxious, overwhelmed, and still do big things.
Buckle up for the ride.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I’ve spent the last couple days trying to think of how to put this event into words for everyone to understand the feelings and emotions behind it…and then I realize that it’s just not possible. And that is what makes events like this SO unique and so rewarding and special. You just can’t put it into words where others can hear it all and be like oh yea, that makes sense now. Mostly I’ve been told I’m crazy and insane (which I take as compliments of course). But you just can’t explain the preparation (or lack of), the nerves, the excitement, the stories told and laughs shared, the delirious and hallucinations, the snacks eaten and fuel taken every hour, the bike bell every 5 minutes, the talks that got us through walks, the gorgeous sunrise that put the biggest smile on my face, 46 miles before sunlight, being able to see without a lamp, hitting a checkpoint, fruit snacks, the rush of adrenaline setting off on the next mini adventure to the next check point, the gorgeous forest we hiked through, the worry of not being able to shuffle anymore, walking with poles for 20 miles, the stranger who reassured that I got this and even though I’m sure he lied he said I looked strong, the total mental breakdown and panic attack that I may not physically be able to move anymore, the love of friends and my girlfriend to stay on a video call with me to bring me back to reality and give me hope again that I got this shit and I can do hard things, seeing the road, seeing @gsmgbf and the group at the finish line cheering me on when had almost zero expectations of even finishing, 7th overall, 3rd female, the next person being 2 hours after me, the finish line hugs which brought every single emotion out of me, a beer and a coffee and a nap in the car, the biggest blisters I’ve ever seen, knowing I not only finished this for myself but also for PFC Chad Trimble. Thank you for your service and ultimate sacrifice. It was an honor. Saying I would never do this again and most likely signing up for next year. Do things that scare you. I promise they are worth it.
