POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

When the ADAPTIV team train on stages, they will shoot their first run at a “match pace”. Where they can guarantee hits and positions and are often more deliberate. After, they amp it up. More aggressive splits, movement, entries and exits. For this run, Jesse shoots most targets on the move, including the far partials in the back. Challenging for sure. But that’s what we do here at ADAPTIV.

While kit can change certain aspects to shooting, it doesn’t have to be as bad as many people make it out to be.

Adaptive Defense Drill

Six strings of five rounds from 40 yards. Three-second par time. Starting position is buttstock on belt.

First time shooting this drill, and I like what it tests.

A consistent index from the starting position makes a significant difference. Whether you agree with a particular start or carry position is irrelevant. If you carry a gun professionally, you need to be proficient from all of them.

Buttstock on belt is common in competition, but it also closely resembles an underarm assault position or how I position the rifle when opening a door.

Don’t get distracted by the starting position. Understand what the drill is testing.

A consistent index allowed me to shoot a high level of visual confirmation without feeling rushed. I was using most of the available time, consistently finishing around 2.8 seconds.

The takeaway is simple. A predictable index gives you more time to see what you need to see and deliver accountable shots. Efficiency creates time. Use it.

Give it a try.

Train hard. Stack the odds.

My off the cuff thoughts on @dj_shipley85 @gbrsgroup post about the relationship between USPSA/competition training and the tactical world. BLUF, firearms and CQB should primarily be trained separate of each other, you should always assess your marksmanship (speed and accuracy) during CQB and scenario training, and we can add elements to completion training and stages to make it more “tactical,” like DMAD.

Shaking off the road trip with 5 rounds 6 x at 40 yards created by @jesse_cinco . Par time for the drill is under 3 secs and you need 120 points to pass. Six reps at this drill will highlight exactly where I need to be spending more time in training. The mount is a work in progress, def adds another layer of skill starting from an unconnected position.

Something worth doing. A lot of opportunity to learn the behavior of your equipment and how it responds to your inputs.

5-6-40 drill- at 40 yards, on the signal, fire 5 rounds in 3 seconds or less. Do it 6x.

Found this following @adaptivdefense @lethal_corporation @jesse_cinco . Pages worth following if you’re looking to progress.

Attempting the 5-6-40 drill // Day 02

Dry fire will continue until morale improves.

Definitely give this drill a try. I’m all over the place…but excited to see what I can do after 1 week of consistent deliberate dry fire.

The GWOT had so many commanders looking at the priority of a deployment being “survival” that most guys have forgotten the job is to locate, close with, and kill the enemy.

The thing is, they weren’t being calculated, they were being pussies hiding behind Hesco’s who were afraid to be aggressive.

Speed matters. Train accordingly.
