Dear Shelby Valley Football,

Where do I begin? I never played football growing up like all my friends around me, I never watched it and never was really into it which is something i’ll regret forever. I remember like it was yesterday when one of my best friends told me I should play football my freshmen year of high school. It was three days past the deadline to come out and join but he urged me to text the coach anyways and ask to come out and that’s when the course of my next 5 years in high school would change forever. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into and didn’t even know if I would stick with it but I can confidently say today it’s the best decision i’ve ever made in my life. Over the last 5 years I have grown into a person i’m truly proud of. I have made so many friends that I now consider brothers and have bonds made of gold. The memories that shelby valley football has given me will last a lifetime and I will look back and smile fondly knowing these were truly the best years of my life. It’s more than football, it’s always been more than football and that’s one thing Coach Hampton always coached. Football has taught me to be responsible, brave, confident, proud, and most importantly to love God and put him first in everything you do. It’s taught me that life isn’t fair and that’s okay and that nothing will be handed to you. I’m so thankful for my friends, my friends parents who have loved me like their own, my family and the whole coaching staff for loving me and giving me a chance to make them proud. I’m truly so blessed to have been able to represent my community every friday night here at Shelby Valley. If there is one message I could leave as my last as a Shelby Valley Football Wildcat it would be this: Trust God with everything, lean on him at all times, and always put him first because everything good i’ve ever had or done has come directly from him. Can’t believe it’s over. I didn’t think I would ever get to this point in life, but I’m so grateful for the memories SV Football has given my family and I. I’ll love this sport and community forever. #GATA
