We won a state championship 🥺🎉

@machiishida and I recently joined the illustrious WAFES Concert Band at the start of the year, and since then it's been fun having a wonderful group of people to play concert band music with every Tuesday 😌

At yesterday's WABA State Band Championships, it was an honour to play a fun program with this incredible section and band under the direction of my former professor Alan Lourens, who I used to play countless UWA concerts under!

Amd to our surprise and excitement... we got 1st place in our category with 299 points out of 325 🎉

It's been such a long time since I've played in an orchestral context, and it feels so good to be doing it under the guidance and surrounds of friends old and new 🙏🏻

Congratulations to all the bands who performed, and thank you to WAFES Concert Band and Alan for such a fun and fulfilling experience 🥁

So... Nationals next? 🤣

📸: thank you to Ed's dad for the photos!

This summer was the most incredibly magical and extraordinary 3 months of my life. I made so many new friends, campers and counsellors alike, who I will likely have for life. From staff training, to night duty, I loved it all even if I complained while it was happening and wouldn’t trade it for the world. I learnt so much about myself and the world of accessibility that I’m not sure I ever would have learned had I not come to camp. This is a program I am truly so proud and grateful to be apart of. 🤍❤️🤍
