New album “Magnolia” is out!!! ❤️

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

For the first time in the history of 97.9 The Hill WCHL, we are presenting a show at Cat’s Cradle — and YOU are invited! On Sunday, November 1, 97.9 The Hill WCHL Presents @piano_tabs and @jessefoxmusic at Cat’s Cradle Back Room. It will be an amazing night of community and live music with two of our favorite artists playing some of our absolute favorite songs.

It all started last year when we first heard the infectious flute riff on Tabitha Meeks’ retro-pop masterpiece “Girl of the Hour.” It went into heavy rotation right away with consistent positive feedback feeding more and more plays, eventually landing the top spot on our end of year Top 97 Countdown. The song got enough plays that eventually Tabitha Meeks herself reached out to the station. She and her band were traveling through the area and wanted to play the song live for us. So they came into our studio last August and played delightful, upbeat versions of some of Tabitha’s best songs. They vowed to return in 2026, hoping to play on a stage in front of a crowd.

So when Tabitha reached out again earlier this year letting us know she would be traveling through Chapel Hill/Carrboro in the fall, we clicked into action. We reached out to Glenn Boothe at @andmoreagainpresents to help figure out how to make it work, and he suggested that we present the show at Cat’s Cradle Back Room. Meeks told 97.9 The Hill, “I can’t wait! I love playing a small room. That’s honestly my favorite. I love being able to see faces in the crowd.”

To complete the bill, there was only one name we considered, Jesse Fox.

Fox is not only a prolific local musician, compelling songwriter and outstanding live performer, he also happened to score the song of the year on our first two end of year Top 97 Countdowns. We asked, and he said yes, completing a dream bill of performances that will feature all three songs of the year from each of our Top 97 lists.

Three top songs, two amazing artists, and one unforgettable evening. All that is missing is you! Get tickets before they sell out at CatsCradle.com.

"What a treat!"

✏️ The reviews are in: September’s House Concert was “a blast”!

After a weekend celebrating Scottish heritage across Last Fridays: Live on the Lawn and Hillsborough’s Outlandish Festival, we gathered in a local home last Sunday, September 27th, for an intimate House Concert with @jessefoxmusic!

Jesse was joined by friends and collaborators Kiah Wells on the mandolin and Glen Bounds on drums, the trio creating a mesmerizing, textured performance. A standing ovation and encore later, many left having made new friends and community connections. Thank you for your love and energy for the arts; your support means the world to all involved 💙

🏡 The Brilakis Family were wonderful hosts with a home full of art, good food, and warmth that permeated the afternoon. The perfect setting for a memorable performance!

We only had an afternoon at the North Carolina Folk Festival, maybe four or five hours from the time we wandered into downtown Greensboro until we finally pointed ourselves back toward home. Normally, that would feel like barely scratching the surface of a three-day festival, but at NC Folk Fest, it somehow felt like we had traveled through half the musical world before dinner. Read the full recap at the link in the bio. @ncfolkfestival #ncfolkfestival #ncfolkfest #folk

Honored to be asked to cover my high school homie Leah Moore’s EP release show. I’ve been watching her behind the scenes for over a decade. Her voice is as pure and powerful as she is as a human. I’m so proud of her. She’s gonna go far.

For fans of Kathleen Edwards, Alanis Morissette, 10,000 Maniacs, Phoebe Bridgers, and Juliana Hatfield. Her EP “Home to Myself” is out now on all streaming platforms. Go give it a listen.

Huge thanks to bluegrass legends @carolinajunebugs and @jessefoxmusic for opening up the show. ]
