Let The City Speak: A Sonic Journey of Quetzal
@letthecityspeak

Director @akira.boch did an amazing job taking us all on a journey capturing both the music and social actions of @quetzalmusic and so many other angelino artivists of the scene.

For many of us it was an energy and vibe we did not realize how special it was until you turn back the clock.

So be sure to catch it when it eventually streams or if you are fortunate enough to make it to one of the upcoming film festival screenings.

WoW.!!! It was an incredible evening last night as filmmaker Akira Boch presented his landmark documentary on the Life, Music and Activism of Quetzal Flores, Martha González and their band Quetzal. Akira wove a story beginning in 1994 that spanned over 30 years to the present in his film Let The City Speak.. This is an amazing example of how to build Community. And not just Community in your hometown… building Community transnationally. Plus it was amazing to see so many wonderful people that I have known and worked with throughout that time period. The film’s next stop is the San Diego Latino Fim Festival… it’s time for a road trip..!!

The Jaime & Blanca Jarrin
Foundation’s *Wine Night at The Ravine* returns on Tuesday, August 19, a wonderful celebration of the Jarrin Foundation’s mission to empower young Latinos through education. This year, Wine Night honors Major League Baseball great and SportsNet LA Analyst Nomar Garciaparra along with Los Angeles Dodgers Team Photographer Jon SooHoo! Nomar graciously took some time to discuss the upcoming @jarrinfdn WINE NIGHT event at Dodgers Stadium, the HOPE that Jaime and Fernando still inspire, his passion for WINE, baseball and our community (shout out Whittier!) and the IMPACT and awesomeness of @jon.soohoo and of course, how FUN the Dodgers are to watch.⚾️
(These are clips from the original interview, available today!) Thanks again NOMAAH, all of us along with @graciannawinery can’t wait to toast you and Jon at the Ravine🍷

“Wine Night at the Ravine is more than a gathering. It’s a homecoming. A night for our family, our friends, and all those who believe in the power of education to uplift.
Together, we raise support for the next generation; helping them unlock their full potential and carry forward a legacy of excellence and purpose.”✨ ~ @andrew.jarrin

I had the distint honor of being part of Jaime Jarrin ‘s Golf Tournament which benefits the World Central Kitchen. Got to hang out with Dodger family and legends which included Jaime and Jorge Jarrin, Mike Scioscia, Mickey Hatcher, Steve Sax, Nomar Garciaparra, James Loney and Shawn Green. Plus some phenom from the Mexican league by the name of Danny Trejo. I did sink the final putt on 18th hole. All those years at Golf n Stuff finally paid off.

KIKE HERNANDEZ: “Hey Los Angeles, I have a question. What makes this team different from every other Dodger team?”

50k DODGER FANS: “We don’t give a fuck.”

Never experienced a championship celebration before. I feel complete. I’m sure that my dad and Fernando were watching out for the Dodgers from Blue Heaven.

Throat cancer survivor Edward James Olmos sang Happy Birthday to Fernando. It sounded beautiful.

Special Thanks to Matt Kelly and Cathy Kim for being such good people.

Although bittersweet without my dad and brother to celebrate with.

We always had a saying in my family, "We will let our children pick their religion but not their baseball team."
