Luna Mae is 3! I can’t believe it, but I also can because of how much you’ve grown. Like how you speak in full sentences and use words like “also” and “actually”. It’s so bittersweet to watch you get older. We love the big girl you’re becoming but still miss the little baby you were. Such is life!! Happy birthday sweet girl. We love you forever 💛🌙✨

Last 2 photos are from a year ago when she had just turned 2 🥹

peak summer 🌞 the only goal is to sloooow down to savor these moments a little longer

little story: I drive past Waimea almost every day and each time I see the bright blues and calm ocean, I find myself daydreaming about floating in that water for hours.

yesterday, as I sat on my inner tube in the bay with Luna chill as ever on my lap, I took it all in. I was right in my daydream. and when it was time to go, she asked for 4 more minutes 😌🙌✨

this was also the most she had ever swam by herself. she’s been so scared of deep water so this was a huge day for her! proud mama!

Honest thoughts… did I actually ruin this roll or is it a happy accident?

The sun flares & double exposure took over this film from our last surf trip, but looking back at the scans, I’m pretty stoked on them. A sweet little reminder of beautiful, unplanned moments we don’t control. ✨

Slide 3 is my favorite, but let me know which one I should frame? 🖼️

P.S. For those wondering where I get my film developed locally here on O’ahu, I always take my rolls to @treehousehawaii. Keep supporting local! 🤙

Feeling quite a few emotions right now since we stepped out of the daily routine and into “vacation mode” (kinda😅). Why does it feel so hard to take time off! How silly is it that there’s this underlying feeling of if I’m not online for a few days then the things I’ve worked years to build will just disappear?? Will anyone care anymore? So silly, right!?

I told my friend recently that I felt like I was on an escalator and if I stopped doing the work, it would carry on without me.

And she said - how cool you’ve built something with momentum.

I never thought of it like that. Thanks @hayleyroseclark for the perspective shift 😘

Social media, constant information overload, 100s of emails and messages I can’t seem to keep up with - no surprise why it feels hard to step away for even a day!

And now Jess & I are about to set off on our 4th surf and yoga retreat together (second as guests) and our 1st time leaving sweet Luna with our parents. It’s incredible, exciting, and heartbreaking all at once.

I already know this retreat is beyond necessary - individually, as a couple, professionally (so important as a teacher in any form to also remain a student). But it doesn’t make it any easier to say goodbye (it’s one week chill natalie).

It’s hard to step out of routine, even when the routine is long, busy, sometimes-chaotic, days. It’s hard to leave the familiar. But it’s always where we grow the most.

I’m excited to see who we become on the other side of this. 🤎

Dreaming about these waves ~

This footage has been sitting on my phone for almost a year.
Partly because life got busy… but maybe also because this was a bucket list trip manifested and I wanted to do it justice.
Sharing it almost makes it feel final.

I dreamed about this trip for so long.
When the opportunity arrived, it was a full body moment of “oh my gosh, this is IT. This is what I’ve been calling in.”
All I had to do was say YES.

But saying yes also meant:
booking the flights, making the payments, taking time off work, traveling across the world - planes, trains, and boats with my 1 year old.

Saying yes meant showing up for ALL of it.

Oh, and the trip was in 2 months 😅

I think we wait for “the right time” more than we realize…
the right season, the right version of ourselves.

It wasn’t easy to say yes.
But it would’ve been way harder to say no ~ and that’s how you know.

I’m really glad I didn’t wait on this one 🌊

I’ll keep saying yes… the things that stretch me the furthest always seem to give the most back.
