I had a great time yesterday (Sunday before @brendasfrenchsf with @gauchojazz ) playing the launch of this excellent book of poems at @specsbarsf written by my friend @jessicaloossf , not only did I get to hear her read excerpts from this excellent book, she was accompanied by @vizetelly on guitar! It had been a long time since I’d seen Michael and I invited him up to play with me for my twenty minute set of country originals.
Come hear me Tuesday night at @seastarbarsf 6:30-8:30pm and Tuesday day I’ll be playing the launch of the new @sflgbtcenter from 11am-noon, I hear the mayor will be there too!

We are so excited to host this book party for one of our favorite poets and North Beach legends, @jessicaloossf! Come celebrate her new book Tambourine on Sunday, July 26 from 2:30-4:30 with special musical guests 🎉🎶📚

Tambourine is the new collection of poetry by San Francisco poet Jessica Loos. Loos is best known for her improvisational performances with music, including collaborations with Marco Eneidi, Cecil Taylor, Drop D, Mario Sacasa, and many others. She plays the tambourine and also makes collages. Loos grew up in New Jersey, went to University of Maine, Orono, and had a wild run in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, where she became a member of The Living Theatre and a contributing writer for High Times magazine. She has an MA/MFA from New College of California. She also taught there, as well as at Academy of Art University. She lives in San Francisco where she organizes poetry and music events.

FERLINGHETTI DAY 2026 is just 2 weeks away, on March 24th! An annual literary walkabout in honor of Lawrence Ferlinghetti, on his birthday.

This year, from dawn to dusk, we’ll have poets and poetry at 11 published stops. The walkabout route, meandering to various Ferlinghetti-related sites from Potrero Hill to North Beach is roughly 7 miles and will take us past about 31 points of interest that are connected to Lawrence’s long life, lived in San Francisco.

Also, this year, we’re trying something new…at each stop we’ll feature a particular book. Esteemed poets and citizen poets alike will read from that book at that stop.

Go there for all kinds of info—the schedule of stops, a brief description of the stop’s significance, the route map (including an actual Google Map of this year’s route), and a non-exhaustive, but growing, list of other Ferlinghetti Day festivities taking place the weekend before and the day of.

@psychedfest 2025 gathers the writers for Literary Night at @specsbarsf ’ 12 Adler Museum Café in San Francisco on Sunday, November 2—an evening of poems, stories, and whispered spells in North Beach’s beloved time capsule.

On the mic: Sarah E. Kruse, Stellar Cassidy, Toph Baby, Jessica Loos, Bridget Clancy, Sophia Fox, Ayla Ginger, and Jack Nancy. Expect page-to-stage electricity—love notes and laments, riotous humor and quiet hauntings, fragments that bloom into choruses. Between sets, the room hums with soft clinks of glasses and the glow of carved wood, ship relics, and stubborn history.

This is the heartbeat of the festival off the dance floor: intimate, close-up, and human. Bring a friend, a notebook, and your best inside voice; leave with new lines rattling around your head.
