She hates the spotlight, but she's a theme in our research—Ms. Jessie has been an advocate and supporter in many of your young parents' stories. Check out this story about Jessie's work in MMSD's parenting program and the grant that we partnered with them on to increase support for young parents across the district. https://www.madison.k12.wi.us/about/news/family-news/issue/~board/newsstories/post/capital-high-parenting-program-nurtures-young-parents-with-support-education-and-community

I have never been much of a winter person. I have had a change of heart. Finding the peace in ❄️Glittery snow
🌲Rustling trees
🌞Crisp sky
🦅Strong animals
🐾Stillness

I am so blessed to have many strong women in my life. I have experienced more time lately to walk and talk with these people and I see and feel how there is so much to learn. Every age has a new set of insights or knowledge that can be shared. Don’t underestimate what Millennials and Gen Z have to offer us and treasure what our elders are willing to share. Above all, listen. Really listen.
Tag YOUR people.

January restoration in full effect. Snuggled with my parents’ sweet new rescue kitty, Milo, an utter surprise—they haven’t had a pet since I was in high school. Visited another book group, which is rapidly becoming my favorite activity—so cool to actually talk about my book’s spoilers and listen rapt as readers turn the whole thing into something bigger than I imagined by myself. Finally resumed my outdoor running—my god I’ve missed the specific shock of winter in my lungs, Blue Mounds in all her icy glory. Cleaned and rearranged my office at work, even brought in a couple of plants I was killing at home. Cut out sugar and anything that comes in a box or bag (we’ll see if that lasts til February). Disassembled all things related to holiday decor. Finished the first draft of my second novel. Flossed.
⠀
Next up: My first event in my hometown, and it’s a double header! Please join me and @alexbledsoewriter at the Mount Horeb Public Library @mhplnews on Monday, Jan. 23 at 6:30pm, as we discuss my first novel and his 14th (!!!!), both of which came out this fall.

Lots of other events and good stuff ahead in 2023. Thank you for being out there with me. 💙✨❄️

What you focus on grows. Where are your thoughts going these days as fall settles in? Are you worrying about the shorter days, the darker evenings, the colder temperatures…? OR are you noticing the autumn POP OF RED 🍁🍄🍎? #Fall2022 #fallcolors #UpNorth #girlsweekend #nofilter (missed you G, G and C)!
