THROWBACK TO 2023! 🎬

Looking back on my first professional role on a film set, working as 1st Assistant Director on Piece, a short film sponsored by the British Film Institute (BFI).

This project was made possible through City Eye, a production company based in the South of England, and marked a pivotal moment in my journey into the media industry. It was the experience that helped turn my passion for filmmaking from something I studied into a career I could actively pursue.

I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities this project opened up, from invaluable on-set experience and networking opportunities to the friendships I made along the way. The lessons I learned and the connections I built continue to mean so much to me.

Also featured are some highlights from our premiere gala at Harbour Lights Picture House, where Piece was screened to a public audience for the very first time. A special moment for everyone involved in bringing the film to life!

Originally titled Tag You’re It during production, Piece follows Max (Scarlett Rayner), a wannabe graffiti artist who finds themselves battling an anonymous rival.

A project that will always hold a special place in my journey so far. Grateful for the experience, the people, and the opportunities that followed. 🎥

The Jane Austen Fan Club Quilt was designed by @vintagetealady and created by @tracydoveyartist with embroidery by 100+ (mostly) women&girls. It will be exhibited at YourSpace in Gosport over the summer (alongside production photographs by @jevon99) supported by public funding through Arts Council England National Lottery Project Grants.

It was created through a series of ‘Cake, Craft & Chat’ workshops in Salisbury, Ringwood, Gosport, Poole & Christchurch to mark Jane Austen’s 250th birthday and explore how much has really changed for women in 250 years (spoiler - when it comes to financial independence - not as much as we might like to think!)

The quilt was part of the set design for The Jane Austen Fan Club theatre show, created by @missvicbriggs and @lucy_mellors, which toured 22 venues earlier this year.

Thank you to the partners and funders of The Jane Austen Fan Club, and most of all thank you to all the brilliant women who took part in the workshops and created the quilt. It is a special thing when women gather to make something together.
