Our annual trip with The Gigglin’ Marlins Dive team & Lifewaters was last week. We had a great time meeting up with our dive friends and helping some people with disabilities go diving!
Our adaptive diver this year was LaShawn. LaShawn served in our US Army. Due to arthritis she had to have a double hip replacement. Afterward, one of her hips became infected to the point of becoming septic and she almost died. They had to go back in and remove her entire hip joint, making it much shorter than the other leg. It is attached only by tissue and skin. Weighting it under water, keeps it from swinging around but, that means it hangs down and is in danger of dragging on coral and sponges. My job was to make sure that didn’t happen! We had some beautiful dives and a lot of fun!

When I first rolled into the pits at the St. Louis Supercoss last Saturday @justinbarcia rolled up to me on his Razor scooter and said, “Hey man where have you been? It’s been awhile. How are you doing?” I was surprised he recognized me out of the crowd of people coming into the pits!😮 It made me feel good to know he recognized and remembered me!😃 The first time I met @justinbarcia he was racing in the #litesclass and I chewed him out for almost taking out @blake_wharton in the heat race at the Indianapolis Supercoss.😂 lol. Here’s a video of us talking before the races started last Saturday.
