Before I ever wore a Saints Super Bowl Ring... I wore a wristband to ESSENCE Festival.

Like so many New Orleanians, I grew up experiencing ESSENCE Festival as a celebration of our culture, our creativity, and our possibilities. I was always inspired by those performing or shaping culture.

This Sunday, I return home with the honor of adding my voice to that same legacy via the SUEDE Men’s lounge.

As a New Orleans native, HBCU grad, Saints Super Bowl Champion, former Fortune 50 exec, and now Leadership strategist, one lesson has outlasted every title I’ve held:
Every profession has an expiration date. PURPOSE DOES NOT!

That’s why I’m honored to join the conversation, “After the Whistle: Life Beyond Pro Sports.”

Because this conversation isn’t just for athletes.
It’s for anyone navigating change... Leaving a career... Building a business... Leading a team... Starting over... Or searching for purpose beyond a title.

Thank you, ESSENCE, for continuing to elevate our culture, celebrate the excellence and influence of Black women, and create spaces where authentic stories inspire the next generation.

basketball court. One loss doesn’t stop the progression. Stay the course—full sail ahead. Every great team takes a loss along the way; it’s part of the journey and part of the growth.

Keep your heads up and trust the work you’ve been putting in. Learn from it, grow from it, and come back even stronger. This may be the end of an era, but it’s also the beginning of the next level.

Keep elevating. Keep grinding. Keep pushing forward. The journey isn’t over—this is just the next chapter. And remember… don’t be so hard on yourselves. 🏀🔥

The #6 ranked John F. Kennedy Cougars advanced in the LHSAA playoffs Tuesday night, defeating #11 Archbishop Shaw 55–49 in a hard-fought second-round battle.

Senior Cahri Coleman delivered a historic shooting performance, knocking down a season-high seven three-pointers to spark the Cougar offense. Fellow senior Joseph Bernardez added 15 points, helping JFK maintain control in a high-intensity matchup from start to finish.

With the victory, the Cougars keep their postseason run alive and continue their pursuit of a championship.

Up Next: The Cougars hit the road to take on #3 Washington Marion in the LHSAA Quarterfinals.
