Camp Carl 2026 - Forever Changed

God is so, SO good. This summer was one with many victories and many defeats, but through it all God has worked in so many ways that I wouldn’t be able to list everything he’s done. It’s been an absolute joy to spread the Gospel to the campers and to tell them about the Lord and how much he loves each and every one of them. Despite every hardship, every trial, every injury (iykyk), every random weather condition that decided to spawn in it was all worth it either seeing the smiles on campers faces while they were having a blast or understanding how much Jesus loves them. Thank you Camp Carl for another incredible summer, I’m forever grateful for it all. Sparrow signing off. 🫡 🦅

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” - 2 Corinthians 5:17-21

Thanks to Camp Camp Carl Term One! So far at the Carl I’ve realized the depth and come to terms with the word dependency. I took a lot of time to constantly be in communication with God, ask Him questions, and constantly abide in the question “What are you trying to teach me?” In a 3 week span, He revealed so much to me that I feel like He’s been trying to tell me for the longest time…

So far I was living in this state of giving it my all at camp and going home on the weekends to do whatever I wanted and have fun. When I lost my wallet a couple weeks ago, I was anxious, fearful, and went home that weekend doing things that were fun and should’ve been restful, but they weren’t. When I thought about it, I realized how much value I put into my own identity and external things, yet I heard God telling me “Am I still here?” So, rest is only as restful as what you have your focus on and sometimes God reveals something about His presence, not about our mistakes….

The gardening team at camp has also taught me the symbolism behind Gods love for us and why He allows trials and bad things to happen. We talked about the purpose of wind is for the trees to establish deeper roots in the ground; in the same way, God gives us chances for adversity to establish deeper roots in our relationship with Him...

Finally, the Holy Spirit used my friend JP to give me a much needed heart check and taught me the importance of addressing your struggles like a war. You need to fight with urgency, but the battle is only as good as the weapons and armor you have. He talked about how you can’t take action steps WITHOUT fixing your heart posture, but you can take action steps TOWARDS fixing your heart posture. I’ve been feeling around a 7/10 spiritually, but He told me it’s the heart check of how much you desire to be like Jesus that matters, not where you’re at right now. So, you need to have a 10/10 desire to be like Jesus to be a 10/10 spiritually….

Incredibly thankful for the lifelong friends, family, and memories I’ve made so far in my time here. Can’t wait for the adventures to come. The war is won, but the battle’s not finished. Praise God! Once again…. LEVI ON TOP!

The only way I got through college was through Jesus, friends, and way too many Stampedes.

I’m thankful for all the amazing people I met during my time at college, and everyone who made my senior so much fun. From Ironhomies innertube waterpolo, camping trips, basketball gamedays, Discover worship nights, desk duty, and Ironclub, all of it made this the best year of college. My time at GCU has been such an amazing stage of life, and I’m excited to see where the Lord takes me next!

Lopes Up and Lopes Out!🤘🏽🦌
