Designer Jessica Friedman injects energy and character into this Westfield home. With the homeowners’ tastes and needs evolving since building the home over a decade ago, it was time to eliminate the mundane and bring in the vibrancy. Read all about it at the link in bio.

Monday Design Tip … on a Wednesday (aka hooray we are SO busy). Know your types of lights. There are three types of lighting in a room: Ambient, task, and accent. Ambient is the most common type of light. Usually this light comes with your home. It is the “natural light” of the space, such as chandeliers, recessed lights, track lighting, ceiling pendants. This light also sets the tone in the space, so be sure you pick the right lumens (we’ll cover that next week). Task lighting is the “get your stuff done” lights, such as hanging pendants, lamps, vanity lights, under cabinet lighting. It illuminates work and reading areas. Accent lighting draws your eye to something. It can highlight art or photos on the wall, illuminate books on your bookshelf. Directional recessed lighting, picture lights, LED strips are some examples. When you have this type of light, you are full-on adulting…you’ve peaked in the world of illuminating a space and you must have hired a designer.
