Fast Bb Jazz Blues Jam with My Berklee Student https://youtu.be/Nm5slpMw804

Having fun trading solos and comping over “Miss Ann’s Tempo” (B♭ Jazz Blues) with my Berklee student @jgarde_ (3rd semester student)

When practicing fast jazz blues tempos, focus on staying relaxed, keeping your groove steady, and listening closely to your playing partner. Let your phrasing breathe even at high tempos! I hope you enjoy this spontaneous jam!

💬 What’s your favorite tempo or tune to practice jazz blues? Let me know in the comments below!

Maybe a month or two late, but I’ve been reminiscing my time on Freedom of the Seas. It was short but sweet, and I enjoyed every second. Coming into such an incredibly talented cast who made me comfortable from the start was amazing! So much love for you all ❤️

Leimert Park Jazz Festival is proud to announce Yasmeena Atia, Vocalist Category, and Joaquin Garde, Instrumentalist Category, as the recipients of our 2026 College Scholarship for Jazz Studies!

This year’s scholarship is presented as the Holman UMC Jazz Studies Scholarship, in recognition of Holman United Methodist Church’s generous support in raising $4,000 toward this year’s scholarship fund. We are also grateful to the individual community members who made donations in support of this year’s scholarships. Thanks to this collective support, Yasmeena and Joaquin will each receive a $2,250 scholarship, an increase from last year’s $1,500 award.

Both Yasmeena and Joaquin will also receive a performance opportunity during the Emerging Artist Set featuring Kenneth Brown II at the 7th Annual Leimert Park Jazz Festival on August 29. They will be introduced on stage by Pastor Victor Cyrus-Franklin II of Holman United Methodist Church.

💬 “I am so grateful to the adjudicators for selecting me for this scholarship award in support of my education. I have enjoyed attending the festival, and admire the work it does to uplift the community and young musicians like myself. Thank you so much!!”
- Yasmeena Atia
