You are invited! #California Premiere of @wakhri_the_film #WAKHRI - the trailblazing movie is at San Francisco International Film Festival on 28th April 2024.

Wakhri is a Pakistani film directed by #IramParveenBilal who co-produced it as well, starring #FaryalMehmood in her debut film lead as a widowed school teacher who gets viral on social media to raise money for a girls school. She dons a purple wig inspired by her #LGBTQ+ friend and dances to raise money. The radical film is inspired by the late feminist, social justice advocate and social media celebrity #QandeelBaloch, who was murdered in 2016. Queer representation from @gulshanmajeed is absolutely stunning in their performance. 🩷🌈

At the #WorldCultureFestival 2023, we danced the #Sufi dance with Team #Pakistan choreographed by the ethereal @wahab.shah ji with @iamfaryalmehmood, the amazing actress for this film. Our dear friend @mind_body_health_coach, who organized this performance with his family will be there with our family in SF on Sunday!

🌼 Dashain (aka Dussera) is such a beautiful festival 🌾, I have always been really amazed by it and as a child always wondered what it really meant. It is celebrated in Nepal, India and world over. We celebrated here in Melbourne, in person and virtually. 😊👨‍💻

After nine nights 🌃 of chanting mantras and connecting with the energies of the divine mother, the feminine aspect of our existence, we celebrate the 10th day as a celebration of our win over the negative tendencies that exists within and without.

In Nepalese tradition, we celebrate by getting blessings from our elders. I remember my grandparents waiting all morning to give me blessings. And of course, I wondered what blessings were, what did that really mean? It took me a while until I realized, I wish I can put it in words to share with you. We all find out one way or the other.

Thank you to my parents, my grandparents and my ancestors for upholding this beautiful practice and Gurudev for giving me the insights.

Lots of love

Krishna says “Though I am in the body, I am not this body. Though I am working through the mind, I am not the mind. I am not what you see me as. I am much more than what you perceive me as. I am present in your heart as you. And anytime you need me, you call me, I’ll be right there with you, to take you out of your troubles and difficulties. You can always count on me.”
