I’ve been wanting to go to Create & Cultivate for years. Every year, I told myself, “Next time.” Then this summer, I got cancer. And “next time” started to feel very different. So two weeks ago, I went all in. Thursday night started with the Supper Club. I walked into that room and almost immediately thought, “I found my room.” There was something about being surrounded by women who were building, creating, taking chances, figuring things out and going after what they wanted. I felt like I was exactly where I was supposed to be. And I decided I wasn’t going to stand around waiting for people to talk to me. I introduced myself first. That might sound like such a small thing, but for me, it wasn’t. And I kept that same energy going into the festival on Saturday and Sunday. I met so many incredible women. I made connections, but I also made actual friends. I talked about the business I want to start—out loud, confidently—and without even intending to, I ended up validating the idea through the conversations I was having. I listened. I learned. I dressed up. I got so many compliments on my outfits, and when a stylist I met told me, “You have style,” it meant more to me than she probably realized. Because it had been a long time since I felt that way about myself. I laughed. I had FUN. I was completely starstruck meeting @avni 🤩. I saw @emmagrede Emma Grede and couldn’t get anywhere near her because of all the security 😂—next time. Okay, maybe there are some next times. And somewhere in all of it, I felt a little more like myself again. I left inspired. Encouraged. Slightly delusional. Very optimistic. And with an energy I hadn’t felt in a long time. It also took me TWO WEEKS to recover 😂, but I would absolutely do it again. The biggest thing I took away from those three days wasn’t something someone said on a stage. It was realizing how much of my own life I’ve been saving for later. The business I want to build. The experiences I want to have. The people I want to meet. The woman I still want to become. I’m done putting her on hold. I want to create the life I want now. Because I’m not counting on next time

I went to LA to invest in fresh ideas for my business. ✨& I came home with a clearer sense of the woman I want to be while building it. I met @emmagrede someone whose work + leadership has shaped how I think about business for years. I’m neverrrr starstruck, but I was on cloud 9 (look at my awkward hand holding all the “freak out” while my face tried to remain composed) 😂 🤦🏻‍♀️ The @joinmaison dinner with 25 female entrepreneurs was a HIGHLIGHT. These were my kind of conversations! 💯 We talked about where we need support, we didn’t shy away from our wins, we were generous with how we could help + took our dreams serious without taking ourselves. Some felt like old friends by the time we left. Could not recommend more✨ Sit with the warriors. The conversation is different. ⚔️These are women who tell the truth, do the hard thing + intentionally make room for each other. ✨ The warriors have always been my people. One of my favorite quotes is “The true soldier fights not because he hates what it is in front of him, but because he loves what it is behind him.” - Chesterton As a former people pleaser who now works in conflict resolution (PLOT TWIST in the best way), I loved hearing @iamnatalie speak about women diluting themselves. ✨A reminder worth repeating: you can be kind + clear. Respectful + strong. You don’t have to make yourself smaller to make others like you. Hold the standard for the woman you are. Hearing Halle Berry speak about aging + refusing to let other people define her as she built and invested in her business stayed with me, too. Between the conversations, time with dear friends @tinaaipharmd + @eriktranpharmd, + one more hug with Emma that I still CANT EVEN - I took a CEO day by the ocean to pause, breathe + process. ✨This ritual of stepping back, gives me the perspective + intentionality I need to keep building well. 🖤 More than anything, I’m grateful for each woman who deposited something into me - even by simply being yourself.
