The early alarms, countless miles, thousands of feet of elevation gain, bad weather, days of grinding and everything else that comes with chasing these animals makes the moment when it all comes together that much more rewarding. It’s been a incredible time in the mountains this year and there is nothing I love more than the pursuit of these beautiful animals and the smiles, laughs and sore legs that come with it. Hard to beat chasing bugling bulls in the middle of October!

Ages ago, as a sophomore at @holdernesstoday , I had the pleasure of reading "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" in English (in tandem, of course, with Thoreau's "Walden") thanks to Mike Henriques. While not about climbing, author Robert Pirsig delves into the subject a bit. His words and ideas came back to me recently as I thought about the new speed obsession on Everest and what it all means. Iceland in 2006. This was an adventure packed trip with collapsing tents, avalanches, Vikings, film crews and even some good skiing. A little segment of it was included in the Sony Pictures Classsic "Steep" when John Armstrong did an amazing job filming us getting caught in a powerful slide.
