Dank je wel Anne en Benjamin voor de geslaagde week!

Dank je wel voor alle gastdocenten de toffe workshops hebben gegeven!

En bedankt voor iedereen die geholpen heeft met extra begeleiding voor alle 48 kinderen! ✨

Learning choreography asks for more than remembering what comes next.

In this part of the series, we were moving from separate sections into the full shape of the piece — finding the transitions, the placements, the timing, and the style that make the choreography feel held rather than just followed.

That is the process inside a choreography block: learning the material, bringing it together, and then giving the movement more intention each time it is repeated.

A look inside our second session of São Paulo by The Weekend, choreography and instruction by @jhmarlie 🫶🏼

Original choreography. Dance training. Performance energy.

One of the things we’re exploring with these choreography blocks is time.

Not just learning choreography once and moving on, but returning to the same piece across multiple sessions. Letting the movement settle. Finding the details. Building the performance. Using placements and staging.

Across the series, the room started to shift. The work became clearer, the energy became braver, and the dancers had space to grow with the piece.

That’s the format we’re building.

One song. One routine. Three sessions. A room that develops.

This is the rehearsal room.

Not just learning choreography once —
but staying with it long enough for it to actually settle.

For the next DTS choreography block, Marlie leads a 3-session series to São Paulo — The Weeknd.

A dark, high-energy track with grounded groove, sharp dynamics and strong performance quality.

Marlie’s movement blends flow, groove, bounce and expression through a contemporary fusion of hip hop, floorwork and commercial performance. Across the block, you’ll work through choreography that moves between strength and softness — building towards a final filmed group performance.

📅 June 2nd, 9th & 16th
🕒 19:00 – 21:00
📍 MOVE Collective, Amsterdam

*June 16th runs 19:30 – 21:30

One choreography.
Three sessions.
One group.
