A belated thank you for such an energetic opening of “Knowledge is Myth: Chimeric Continuities” on view @carpenter_center_harvard through December 13

This exhibition features works by four artists and collectives Enzo Camacho & Ami Lien, Candice Lin, Cole Lu @colelu and AYDO (Ayoung Yu & Nicholas Oh) @aydo_studio that complicate the binaries of mythology and knowledge, and their constructs + a selection of interinstitutional loans from archives and libraries across @harvard — stay tuned for more information soon about a NYC program / research talk with some of the artists at Asia Art Archive in America in December! 👁️

Inspired by the Chinese zodiac, OX GHOST SNAKE DEMON by is the bold first collection from Jade Song (@jadessong), the acclaimed author of CHLORINE and I LOVE YOU DON'T DIE.

And we're so excited to share the cover with you all today!

🫂Childhood best friends reunite.
🔪A housewife takes revenge on her suburban neighbours.
🐯A girl remembers her mother by the tiger stripes that adorn her skin.
🐉Love stories begin, a dragon rises and a disgruntled officer worker makes meals flavoured by those who have crossed them.

Each story, written in striking prose and laced with darkness, is inspired by the traits associated with a different animal in the Chinese zodiac and explores transformation: what it means to unapologetically become more ourselves outside the constraints of dominant cultural narratives.

OX GHOST SNAKE DEMON is coming your way 14th January 2017 but keep your eyes peeled for a chance to read early 🤫
🐀 🐂 🐅 🐇 🐉 🐍 🐎 🐐 🐒 🐓 🐕 🐖

🎨 credit to @jiazilla's for the utterly stunning art!

echolalia echolalia turns 2 today, and I celebrated by getting a tattoo from @jn.ink, loveliest artist I met at Banff who immediately suggested this placement for his interpretation of the snake from the cover, snake eater (2021) by @jiazilla.

i also took my book to the pirate ship at playland last month, as a nod and a wink to "back in a nanosec." 🎢🏴‍☠️

it still amazes me that this lil book is out in the world and has readership. from Jia Sung's art to the impeccable support from @brick.books, echolalia echolalia was a collaborative effort that made the challenges in my life at the time less daunting and gave me the mettle to truly challenge myself in so many ways, and for that i will always be grateful.

also grateful to be spending the rest of the month at @deerlakeartists residency working on the next one(s). it is so beautiful here—on the shared unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, sḵwx̱wú7mesh, sʔəl̀ilwətaʔɬ, and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm peoples—i am going to faint. 🌿🌲🪵 a birds eye view of a desk with echolalia echolalia, pencils, a sketchbook with a scenery on it, and jane's arm revealing an orange snake tattoo
