Yesterday was beautiful!

I hosted my first community-centered travel workshop, and the space, the conversation, the energy was everything.

I shared how and why travel has become such a significant part of my life, then invited others to share their travel stories. Together, we explored real-life scenarios you might face abroad, voting on whether they felt ethical, unethical, or needed more context. That sparked some honest conversation about challenging tourist norms.

We talked about what it means to go from consumer to contributor and to think more critically about how we show up in the places we visit and how we can give back instead of just taking.

It was a space for reflection, connection, and rethinking what travel can look like.

We ended by designing our dream trip keeping the ethical and mindful practices we talked about in mind and pitched them to the group.

Big thank you to @thekenekt for hosting us, and to everyone who showed up with openness and intention. On a Friday, in the middle of the day.I appreciate you all!! 🫶🏾

Let’s keep building a new kind of travel..
One that centers people, not just places. 🌍

📸 Swipe through for a few moments from the workshop.

Have you ever thought about how your presence impacts the places you visit?

Next pop up will be the afternoon of Saturday July 26!! More details to follow. 🙏🏾💓

I haven’t attended the great @essence festival yet but all these Nola recaps got me reminiscing on my own many Big Easy adventures (peep the loc growth)

Idk which Producers and ADs scheduled Queen and Slim to be filmed during Mardi Gras back in 2019… but from that introduction I was hooked and gratefully awakened to consistently explore.

I figured in #thatfeeling of preservation and sharing I’d contribute to the zeitgeist this go round. (Yall know I got videos too 😌).

Not to mention… I really like my eye 👁️ and the memories it brings up for me. I’ve been experimenting… with 35mm film

- Slide 2 *** my sister aunties and I before Zulu Ball 2019 (a time was had)
- Slide 4 *** the photo before my last trip to Nola with Big Pearl. This is the last photo my late uncle Bobby took of me.
- Slide 9 - The school band that created a needed intermission from the Q+S set. Yall see these ACTUAL majorettes?! Twirl babiessss
- Honorable shoutout to my boo @ken_nuh_sha who always shows me a great time. She solid always.
