"I am" is an ever-present fact, while "I was created" is a thought. Neither god nor the world has come to tell you that they created you. Conquered by the notion of causality, the mind invents creation and then discusses: "Who is the creator?" The mind itself is the creator. Even this is not quite true, because the creation and the creator are One. The mind and the world are not separate. Realize that what you consider to be the world is your own mind.

As we all know, life is a series of passages. In every passage, there is a death of some sort: the death of naïveté, the death of a dependency, the death of an understanding of self and world. And, after that death, there is often a terrible "in-between," sometimes lasting years. Our ego understandably does not cotton to the idea of anything dying; vested as it is in its own security and maintenance, it will prolong, resist, deny — as long as it can — the dismantling of the old.

The good and bad news are the same: we are asked to 𝘥𝘪𝘦. Only through this death can our natural creativity enact its developmental plan. What we may not have considered along the way is that every time we have shunned our summons to creativity, left undeveloped a talent or capacity, we have thereby removed that gift from the world.

Our gift to the world is honored by bringing our best self to it; paradoxically, we do that by sacrificing ego comforts to our creative process — which, killing off the old, drives the project that we are forward.

All life is a movement in relationship. There is no living thing on earth which is not related to something or other. Even the hermit, a man who goes off to a lonely spot, is related to the past, is related to those who are around him. There is no escape from relationship. In that relationship, which is the mirror in which we can see ourselves, we can discover what we are, our reactions, our prejudices, our fears, depression, anxieties, loneliness, sorrow, pain, grief. We can also discover whether we love, or there is no such thing as love.

〰️ Relationships to Oneself, to Others, to the World

🔹💠🔹💠🔹💠🔹💠🔹💠🔹💠🔹💠🔹💠🔹💠🔹

It is not a crisis somewhere else, it is in our minds, in each one of our minds, in our hearts, in our relationship with each other. And the crisis, as we said, is in our consciousness. This consciousness is common to all mankind. Wherever you go, man is suffering, uncertain, insecure, lonely, neurotic, depressed, elated, chasing one fad after another, especially in this part of the world. And this crisis is brought about by thought. Thought has put together the content of our consciousness.

So we are learning, or observing our own state of mind. That's where real education begins — self-education. We have learnt so much from others about ourselves. We are always looking for others to lead us, not only outwardly but especially in the psychological realm — inwardly. There is any trouble, any disturbance, we immediately go after somebody who will help us to clear it away. We are addicted to institutions, we are addicted to organisations, hoping that they will settle our problems, help us to clarify our own minds. So we are always depending on somebody. And dependence will inevitably bring about corruption.

The opportunity to feel your own pain and heal your own trauma is a gift in its own way, not only to ourselves but to the whole of humanity. And this isn't something we necessarily need to share verbally (although it can be) — just being who we are throughout this process is enough to effect change energetically in the (p)synapses of the world.

🔹💠🔹💠🔹💠🔹💠🔹💠🔹💠🔹💠🔹💠🔹💠🔹

As we navigate the landscapes of our inner world, the process of healing from trauma offers a unique opportunity to redefine our narrative. It’s an exploration that goes beyond mere recovery, touching the very core of our being and reshaping our relationship with ourselves and the world around us. This transformation is not solely an emotional rebirth but extends to the very wiring of our nervous system, fostering resilience, peace, and a deeper capacity for joy and fulfilment.

I loved this video because I've felt this way for a long time 😅 except I don't think it only applies to therapy but any rule or way that people must present in the world. In reality, different people have a wide variety & unique combinations of different skills, interests and methods of introspection & communion with nature / the universe, and bearing witness to all of these different methods can teach us a lot more than deciding that anything is necessary for everyone.

In fact, I think a lot of the reason therapy is seen as 'necessary' in modern society is because people are looking for a way to connect with themselves on a deeper level in a world that demands you present yourself in specific ways. It's kind of ironic then that therapy was weaponized in the same way, but that is part of the ebb and flow of anything that suddenly becomes popular, including spirituality, politics and ideas of revolution.

"Empty yourself of everything,
let the mind become still.
All things in the Universe rise and fall
while the Self watches their return.
They grow and flourish
and then return to the source.
Returning to the source is stillness,
which is the way of Nature."
— Tao Te Ching

In the end, only we get to decide how to live our lives and only we can open the doors of connection we seek from others. As Osho says: love is relating, love is never a relationship. If we don't realize this, we will continue to advertise connection as something to be purchased in the marketplace or provided in exchange for money or relational hierarchy.

Therapy definitely has its place in this vast world of possibility, and sometimes we all need extra help. But I truly feel that therapy, like any other tool, is useful to ultimately connect you back to the source, to the only person who can make you feel happy, loved and connected — yourself. From there, the world of happiness, connection and love blossoms in ways far beyond anything one relationship could ever provide. My own journey with therapy eventually brought me to an intuitive life coach who prophetically told me, "My hope is that one day you won't need me anymore" and that is the type of relationship that wants to see you 'become'.

Does not everything depend on our interpretation of the silence around us?

Words can be twisted into any shape. Promises can be made to lull the heart and seduce the soul. In the final analysis, words mean nothing. They are labels we give things in an effort to wrap our puny little brains around their underlying natures, when ninety-nine percent of the time the totality of the reality is an entirely different beast.

Solitude is for me a fount of healing which makes my life worth living. Talking is often torment for me, and I need many days of silence to recover from the futility of words. I have got my marching orders and only look back when there is nothing else to do. The journey is a great adventure in itself, but not one that can be talked about at great length.

Be open. Live in the past if you must, but don’t struggle against it; when the past comes, look into it, not pushing it away nor holding to it too much.

The experience of all these years, the ache and the joy, the sickening blows and your glimpses of the separation, the faraway sense, all these will add enrichment and beauty.

What is important is what you have in your heart; and since that is overflowing, you have everything, you are everything.

Happy Is the One Who Is Nothing: Letters to a Young Friend

Joy is a state of transcendence. One is neither happy nor unhappy, but utterly peaceful, quiet. Joy is forever; happiness is momentary. Happiness is caused by the outside, hence can be taken away from the outside — you have to depend on others. And any dependence is ugly, any dependence is a bondage. Joy arises within, it has nothing to do with the outside. It is not caused by others, it is not caused at all. It is the spontaneous flow of your own energy.

It is the most mysterious experience in life: something uncaused, something beyond the law of cause and effect. It need not be caused because it is your intrinsic nature, you are born with it.

It is something inborn, it is YOU in your totality, flowing. Whenever you are flowing, you are flowing towards the ocean. That is the joy: the dance of the river moving towards the ocean to meet the ultimate beloved.
