Eight years ago, it all began in Shanghai. Eight years later, my dream finally came true — right here in Shanghai.

The story traces back to 2018. During the Spring Festival holiday that year, I stumbled across a long-forgotten yo‑yo stored in a storage box at home. Through self-learning and connecting with others online, I officially embarked on my yo‑yo journey.

My very first competition was neither a regional nor a national contest. It was WYYC 2018. Back then I had only practiced for six months, and I had just started learning 4A for merely one month. As a newcomer unfamiliar with competition rules, I unfortunately failed in the wildcard round and never made it onto the main stage. I there alone, knowing almost nobody, and felt incredibly lonely. But after watching performances from the world’s top players in person, a seed of dream was planted deep inside me: I longed to stand on that stage and hear the crowd cheer for me.

Since 2018, I kept training day after day. Once obsessed with video games, I started traveling from place to place for contests and gradually fell in love with travelling. Along this road, I tasted both victory and defeat. Burdens from school and daily life made me question countless times whether I should keep going. Arthritis in my fingers and knees wore down my confidence again and again. Now I finally have my answer. Yo‑yo has enriched my life and transformed who I was — an extremely introverted kid.

This also marks the final year of my student life. I may get caught up in countless responsibilities in the future, yet I hope I can always preserve my original passion.

Thank you for designing this incredible yo‑yo for me. @jigun_official
