I spoke on a panel for the Root Words anthology launch with 6 of the 19 writers that contributed to the book.

My piece profiles @jihyangryuart and explores belonging, identity, and reconciling cultural layers.

Grateful to @artslinknb for the opportunity to explore these themes through collaboration, creativity and community.

What. A. Night.

When I create something, it’s always with impact in mind. And we definitely did by raising over $10,000 for the Justice Facility Dogs at the Beauséjour Family Crisis Center. That alone is HUGE.

But here’s the part I didn’t expect…

Last night, I paused to take it all in. The dance floor was packed. People were jumping, laughing, living. The playlist? Straight fire. Total 2000s throwback. Phones were down (except for selfies, obviously), and joy was way, way up.

And it hit me: this was the real magic.

The comments keep rolling in:

🪩 “Please do this again.”
🪩 “I haven’t danced like that since I was in my 20s.”
🪩 “My feet hurt and my heart is full.”
🪩 “I forgot how good it feels to just let go.”
🪩 “This was better than therapy.”
🪩 “Can we do this every month?”
🪩 “It felt like everyone was 20 again, in the best way.”

That’s the kind of impact you can’t measure with dollars.

Thank you to every single person who showed up, danced it out, and helped make this dream real. You showed up for charity, and you left with joy.

Now the only question is…
When are we doing it again?
