What a weekend at the Melbourne Cat Lovers Festival @catloversfestival 🩷🐾 We had a rotating cast of cats keeping us company at the stall over the two days, plenty of lovely people stopping by to say hello and lots of conversations about Sphynx cats, their heart health and the work we do. A huge thank you to everyone who came to meet the cats, supported us by purchasing some merch, made a donation or simply stopped for a chat. Every bit of support helps us continue caring for Sphynx cats in need! 💕 We also loved catching up with familiar faces, meeting new people and putting some faces to names! Another highlight was getting to meet Hannah Shaw (AKA Kitten Lady / @kittenxlady )! While Sphynx kittens only find their way into our care VERY RARELY, kitten rescue is actually another part of what we do! For those who don't know, our team also runs Railway Rescue/Railway Cat Project, where we rescue and rehabilitate stray cats and kittens living on railway land. We couldn't pass up the opportunity to catch some of Hannah's incredibly interesting and informative talks on raising and caring for kittens. There is always more to learn and it was wonderful to hear from someone with so much knowledge and experience! We also managed to very briefly sneak over to the dog side of the festival to visit @nohairsark, who rescue Chinese Crested dogs (fellow nudies!). Their online shop is temporarily closed while they're busy with the festival, but once it reopens we have our eye on a few things that would be perfect for our feline nudies too, particularly their handmade carrier slings! If your Sphynx likes being carried around all the time, slings can be a great option! Finally, a big thank you to our wonderful volunteers who gave up their time to help make the weekend happen. We couldn't do events like this without you! Next stop: Halloween at @peto.preston AND @peto.thomastown 🎃🐈‍⬛ Yes, we're ambitious enough to be in two places at once! 😂 We hope to see some of you there! 🩷

Yes, I did post two pieces of writing in one day (sorry). What can I say, when the urge to write calls, who am I to deny it? Today, I (alongside my fantastic @integrity_initiative volunteer team), hosted Creating in Community, the open community workshop component of the Trail of Creativity, which seeks to challenge norms around creativity and art. What I got today was a deep appreciation for the messy human that I am, the chaos I bring, and the way that shapes how I go about this life, define creativity, and critique myself. My takeaway: I choose to see creativity as acceptance of the beauty that is imperfection, and the realisation that leaning into uncertainty, curiosity and question is perhaps the greatest thing we have to offer as humans. READ THE FULL PIECE ON SUBSTACK https://integrityinitiative.substack.com/p/in-defence-of-bad-frogs?r=5i0ao7&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true Alt text: Title slide reading "In Defence of Bad Frogs" in bold black hand-lettered text on a light grey background, surrounded by six simple black-outline sketches of frogs and toads in different poses.
