Yesterday at the @tgflex_1 @timgardnerproductions Hurricane Pro-Am was about so much more than stepping on a bodybuilding stage. It was a reminder of just how much can change when you shift your perspective.
18 months ago, I tore my quadriceps tendon. Not long after, I unexpectedly lost my dad. Two experiences that challenged me in ways I never could have anticipated, physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Looking back, those moments didn’t just test me. They changed me.

This prep was unlike any I’ve ever experienced. It was seamless, freeing, and genuinely enjoyable. Not because it didn’t require sacrifice, discipline, or hard work, but because my relationship with the process had completely changed.

I wasn’t chasing a certain look out of pressure or trying to prove something to anyone. I was simply thankful to be healthy, capable, and able to do something I love again.

For the first time in a long time, I felt like I was truly living in the process rather than constantly looking toward the finish line.

Less pressure. More purpose. Less expectation. More gratitude.

I’ve learned that perseverance isn’t always about pushing harder. Sometimes it’s about having the patience to heal, the humility to grow, the faith to trust God’s timing, and the willingness to keep showing up even when life looks nothing like you planned.

Losing my dad gave me a deeper appreciation for how fragile life really is. Recovering from an injury that temporarily took away something I loved reminded me not to take the opportunities in front of me for granted.

I’m no longer interested in measuring my life solely by accomplishments, placements, or what comes next. I want to measure it by how much I’m growing, how well I’m loving the people around me, how faithfully I’m walking with God, and whether I’m becoming a better man through it all.
