Eels are on the move in NH 🌊

Thousands of eels appear in NH waterways every year for their trek upstream, and Jill Armstrong uncovers the mystery of this incredible migration with NH Fish and Game and NH Sea Grant in our September issue!

Read the full story in print and online!

Above: Between the two sites, more than 200,000 juvenile eels were counted during last spring’s monitoring period.

Juvenile eels like these travel thousands of miles from the Sargasso Sea through New Hampshire’s freshwater systems — one of nature’s greatest migration stories.

Fish and Game’s Mat Lee and Wells Costello, the Citizen Science program manager for the New Hampshire Sea Grant Coastal Research Volunteers program, review eel-monitoring protocols with the day’s volunteers.

Finally! It’s above freezing out! ❄️

There’s no better time to get outside and explore New Hampshire’s snowshoeing trails!

Snow-covered trails or even backyards reveal animal tracks, and the exposure to sunshine on clear days provides an extra boost of vitamin D, something hard to come by when the days are short. Snowshoeing also provides time for observation — a chance to slow down and really appreciate nature in its current state 🌲

Do you have a favorite place to snowshoe? Let us know in the comments ⬇️

Visit our website, or pick up a copy of our Jan/Feb issue for our trail recommendations and more!

Edible New Hampshire is back, and we couldn’t be more grateful to be in its third issue!

Jill Armstrong beautifully tells the story of Finding Thyme, a concept born from a deep love of food and the great outdoors. It’s travel with purpose — fully designed for deeper experiences and meaningful friendships, all within thoughtfully curated, intimate groups. There are tours, and then there’s Finding Thyme.

I hope to see new faces join us in Alaska, Mexico, and New Hampshire later this year. Full details can be found on www.FindingThyme.org

Thank you, Jill!

With all this fresh snow on the ground, there’s no better time to plan some outdoor adventures! 🎿

Cross-country skiing — also known as Nordic — is the ideal activity for experiencing winter’s beauty, all while testing your balance and building cardiovascular strength. If you can master the technique of gliding, a day out on two skinny planks becomes a master class in meditation 🧘‍♀️

Visit our website, or grab a copy of our Jan/ Feb issue, to find all the adventure that awaits you this winter!

Saturday, January 31st, @method_ology returns to @gunstockmtn and BTBounds will be there for all the turns, berms, and good times!

Whether you stood on the podium last year or this is your first-ever race, Methodology is for everyone! It’s community gathering with some wicked fun turns thrown in—last year the course was so much fun (and great if you’re new to banked slaloms). Plus there are two new age groups this year: Groms Girls and Boys (10 and under) and Masters Women and Men (50+), so bring the whole family!

We’ll be hanging out all day, racing, and acting as a premium pit crew and cheering section, plus offering some extra supper for any women, girls, and non-binary riders who would like! So whether you want some turning tips and tricks, or are looking for a crew to cheers a @pabstblueribbon with at après, we’ve got you!

There will be tons of prizes from Methodology’s partners @pabstblueribbon, @vanssnow, @slushthemagazine, @crabgrab, @avalon7, @anonoptics, @effective_edge, @sunbum, @mizulife, and @arborsnowboarding, and a special Blue Ribbon Boarder prize from BTBounds.

How to join in the fun:
- RSVP at the link in bio (no cost, just let us know you’re coming to ride with us!)
- Register for Methodology (link is on the RSVP or go to @method_ology) — the race will sell out, so don’t wait on this!
- show up to Gunstock on Saturday, January 31st ready to hang with old friends, meet new ones, and join a supportive crew for any pre-race jitters you might be having!

We will have a table set up at registration in the Maine lodge—so you can come by, say hi, and link up there, too!
