Sam @samsweden.martin and me circa 1980, Berkeley, California. Early days in photography for me, Sam is a friend and photo mentor. I think he was showing me some studio lighting techniques with the limited equipment I had available. Those were the days Sam, right? You with the stylish aviator glasses me carrying mine in a dorky pocket case. We were really sad to see you guys return to Sweden after such a long stay in the states. #photography #mentor #friends #boyswithtoys #studiophotography #film #filmscans #doubleselfie

Last Saturday morning I woke up to find someone had gone into my studio and stolen all my cameras and lenses, except for my infrared camera which was in the house with with me. Several other people in the neighborhood lost stuff that night also, we found out later. A loss this great, years ago, would have devastated me, striking at the heart of my great obsession with photography. Amazingly, while not happy about losing that stuff, I find that what you see in this picture from yesterday, overwhelms any sense of loss for those replaceable items with these two @_shk__ who could never be replaced, and whose smiles bring indescribable joy. Thanks to my lovely and talented daughter-in-law @karensleung for this great photo, and for the wee fella in my arms,Jay. #Christmas2019
