Finally at the point that I can share some highlights from my dad’s celebration of life. I miss him every day, but I make it a point to drive by the blue Valley Northwest Stadium (or “Prib’s Pitch,” as I hope it will one day be named).

Something I’ve never shared with anyone is the last exchange my dad and I had before his surgery and subsequent stroke. I woke up early that morning to see he and my mom off to the hospital and I said “Dad, I love you.”
He responded ”Love yourself first. I love you too. I’m sorry.”

Photos from the boys varsity basketball game against Blue Valley West, March 4. The Huskies defeated the Jaguars, 53-46. Journalism teacher and sports announcer Jim McCrossen was recognized at halftime for his 32 years of announcing basketball and 30 years of announcing football. (Photos by @ashley_phelps33)

These two incredible teachers and humans changed my life. Every time I write an email or a story, every time I think critically and carefully, every time I taught my own students, their impact was felt. So grateful to reconnect with my High School English & Newspaper teachers after all these years.

When they aren’t working on the next publication (like today’s edition of the Express!), editors are sharing what they learned from their assigned chapter of Leaders Eat Last in Mr. McCrossen’s 4th hour.
