Now for some nature nuggets!

This little pool is a “tide pool” along the rocky shoreline of Lake Superior (largest fresh water lake in the world). BUT, while it is indeed an enormous lake, it does NOT have tides.

So, how can there be tide pools along Lake Superior?

The answer is simple: Wind and waves!

On days with strong winds and high waves, the wave spray fills depressions like this in the exposed bedrock, creating some amazingly unique tide pools.

Why are they unique? They are ultra clear and the plants beneath the water level are usually on land. These plants in this video are not water plants. They were above water just 24 hours before this video was shot.
